Do they reject this early, post-interview? :/

Stats anyone?

I had decided not to do a secondary here, and just received an email Monday saying the deadline is December 22 and that there are still "more than 150 interview spots left". Everywhere else says December 15. Did they extend the deadline? Do people that submit the week of the deadline actually have a chance?

so...it's "freezing" here in northern California (33 degrees this morning!) and I'm already running out of winter clothes...

anyone have any idea what I'm supposed to do when I come for my interview here in January? Like...do I just wear a huge jacket over my suit? Haha I feel like such a noob.

On another note--anybody have suggestion for hotels I should stay at for my interview? I applied for a student host but they haven't gotten back to me--wanted to make sure I had a backup jic.

When I interviewed, they got back to me the week before my interview. I highly recommend staying with a student host because he was able to give me a really good idea of what to expect. I had a really great experience

yes, wearing a big coat would be perfectly acceptable. We will hold your coat until the tour, no worries.

Also, there are a couple of decently close hotels. Varsity Inn on Olentangy is close, as is the red roof inn also on Olentangy. Very short cab/car rides.

Anyone know when the next round of acceptances are going out?

Torredchally, just contact the admissions office with the course you're taking (and from what university). The office may ask you to fax or e-mail over the course syllabus, but they'll be able to give you a definite answer. Good luck with everything!

I believe so. At least from the sample size of SDN, I don't think I have seen anyone here report that they were outright rejected post-interview.

Kind of a tease to go to a second look weekend if you do not wind up getting in. However, attending a second look while on the waitlist may not necessarily be such a bad idea since it demonstrates continued interest in the program and may give you something to write about in a letter of interest. Having said that, I was I was accepted off of the waitlist in May 2012, not having attended the second look weekend.

I think that second look weekend is generally for people who have already been excepted unless someone else has heard otherwise from OSU.

Generally that's true, but Ohio State doesn't seem like the type of place that would turn away waitlisted applicants who wished to attend.

Anyone get the newsletter? It says 26 people have been accepted so far who were initially deferred. That's a lot more than I was expecting. I hope I still have a chance.

i was in the same boat- i didn't hear back at all either way, so i emailed them last night. woke up this morning with a reply email with the host's information... dunno if you've already booked a hotel by now but i'd try emailing the coordinator people first!

I'm interviewing on Monday- does anyone have general impressions/tips from their interview day? I'm starting to get nervous, and would love to learn as much about the interview day before I walk into it. Thanks in advance!

I got my host info!! Got it yesterday morning--I cancelled my hotel so I'm good to go!

I'm excited for my interview! OSU is great. I interviewed here two years ago but was sadly deferred. hoping for better chances this time around! See you Monday :P

Sorry if this was already asked but do they do silent rejections? I haven't heard anything from them at all since I sent in my secondary and now my supplemental application is gone? It says that the application is unavailable now and that I should check the submission timelines. Really confused here!

did they tell you at your interview? I just interviewed this monday and they specifically told us the exact date we would hear a decision

II this morning! I submitted my secondary the absolute last day, so I'm very surprised. Scheduled for 2/18. They originally had mine set for March 4th, so they probably have some spots left.

Hey there hopeful OSU peeps! I was just checking back in with dear old SDN after being away for awhile, and I'm glad to see it is going well. I was in the OSU class of 2009, just finished a Pediatrics residency at Duke, and am now out in practice in Utah. My 2 cents, I loved OSU, Columbus, and the time there. It was always a forward-thinking program, and while some of the leadership has changed, I'm sure that is still true. Best of luck to everyone!
