Default ACFAS student chapters

SDN Members don't see this ad.
Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone is involved w/ their student chapter of ACFAS or an equivalent foot and ankle surgery club. The reason I ask is the CPMS SCACFAS (student chapter of the ACFAS) is looking to start a universal club. I'm sure each of the colleges has some sort of surgical club and I think that we all could benefit from working together. We are very active at CPMS and have some great idea for activities and would love to hear some new ideas. If anyone has info or is interested, feel free to post or PM me.

It is good that you are interested in creating a universal club. I was the treasurer and later became the vice president of the ACFAS student chapter at TUSPM when I was a student.

What do you guys do for the surgical club (or ACFAS student chapter) at your podiatry schools? Is there some surgery workshops set up and the like? Guest speakers, work on cadavers, etc? I'm just curious as it sounds like a great organization to join once I'm in pod school. I'm quite interested in the surgical aspect of podiatry along with diabetic footcare. Thanks again!

I am the program director and we do a wide assortmant of things. We have a distinguished lecture series where we bring in lectures to discuss whatever is our topic of the month. I also give suture and knot tying sessions. I would love to do a cadaver workshop but I really do not think it will be feasible until next semester. Besides the surgical aspect of the club, we are involved in community service activities and also have a research chapter in our club. The research chapter just put on a poster presentation at the Fireside chat for the Heartland Podiatry conference. The winner's poster will be sent to the ACFAS conference in Orlando in March. If anyone has any ideas please also PM me.
