why are we still talking about AA when we haven't even begun to discuss thank-you notes or the proper interview attire?

you guys are all idiots.

all thank you notes must be at least 10 pages long, with an abstract, references, and written in calligraphy.

if you come to the interview wearing anything resembling hunter green, you will dragged out into the nearest busy intersection and shot.

DOs are entirely worthless, second class citizens, and anyone who attempts to practice medicine under the facade of "osteopathy" should be subject to fraud litigation.

doctors are too busy worrying about URMs getting into med school than to worry about those trivial matters such as abortion.

i think that covers it

you might want to consider doing a post bacc, or applying to carribean med schools, the bad ones at least. the gpa cut off at SUNY downstate last year was a 6.5 on a 4.0 scale. i'm sorry silvercholla, but you are a moron

hey guys, I'm still wondering....do you think my secondaries should be typed?

I was thinking of using Egyptian Hieroglyphics to demonstrate my multicultural perspective on life.

Thoughts?

What about the chances of an URM nontrad student with only a 3.98 and a 41T?

I would personally be ashamed to be a DO..........I mean come on............I went a specialist at a top 10 school who was the head of his department and he didn't know what he was talking about at all...........I think I value DO's less than sanitation engineers (isn't everyone an engineer these days?)

sounds like a good idea. dont use other trite dead languages like latin, attic greek, or sanskrit like the average run of the mill applicant does. you really want to separate yourself from the pack

I posted this on another sarcastic thread back in May. Enjoy:

Quote:
Hi! I have 3.99 GPA from Harvard and a 45 MCAT. My GPA is kind of low I mean that hundreth of a point is really going to kill me when the adcoms see it.

Yeah I know my stats aren't too hot. I have some ECs but I don't know if I've done enough. I ended famine in Somalia, brought peace to the Middle East, was a NYC firefighter on 9/11, cured AIDS and cancer on separate weekends, captured notorious Al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Zubaydah, and created a national healthcare system in Botswana. Pretty weak, right?

I was just wonderng but should I enter a post-bacc program to perhaps raise my GPA up a little bit? Also, do you guys think I should retake the MCAT again just to show adcoms my dedication to applying to medical school? I really don't think one 45 is enough.

Also, can you guys give me a list of the really *easy medical schools* to get into? I was thinking of going to some of the carribean medical schools but I don't think I'm quite up to their standards either.

I was also thinking of taking a vow of poverty just to show adcoms my dedication to medicine and that money plays absolutely no role in my life or in my decision to become a physician whatsoever. As a practicing physician I simply plan on subsisting on food stamps, welfare, and public housing because I am so dedicated.

Basically what I'm trying to say is: Do I have a shot?

Oh no! Silvercholla you just shattered all my hopes and dreams. Now I'll never get into med school with my crappy 3.99 GPA and my lousy 45Z MCAT...goddamned URMs!!!!

On another note, what color cockring should I wear to my interview? Should it match my suit or my shoes...you know just in case the adcom wants to give me a physical before the interview.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. Dern, I am just tired of hearing about AA because there are always going to be strong agreement and disagreements.
How about an URM Support Group for URM going through pre-med, med, and residency.
PS-This is coming from a URM.

I don't know. Just make sure to apply to a wide range of schools, and don't feel bad if you're waitlisted. If you ARE waitlisted, tho, be sure to send a letter of intent.

Not yet to be honest. This thread perhaps covers a mere fraction of the crap that has been posted on the pre-allo forum...well except for the part about the cockring.

Explosivo is right. We have only scratched the surface, and we have yet to cover the most important issue, which (of course) is whether we should staple or tape our pictures to the secondaries, and what the exact measurements of the pictures should be, AND the perils of sending in home-made vs. glamour shots photos. But I admit, the cockring was unchartered territory.

Get your priorities straight, people!!

DW, I never pad. I am not a post padder and I may have to report you to a moderator for flaming me and deliberately singleing me out as a padder.
