Ooooohhhh Zpack...the choices you face! Hmmmm - buying a multithousand dollar RV (I know - I did it!) to travel thousands of miles from Texas to Montana (did that too - the traveling thousands of miles thing....) with an 12 yo girl & a 6 yo younger brother - hmmm.....so who drives & who gets to drink???? We used to laugh about how our "tin can" started to rattle after we'd been in it for a few weeks. Well....you gotta do it once in your life so you might as well do it now. Your daughter isn't old enough yet to realize her life is controlled by her blow dryer & your son will love the dirt he can find. Now....what about our dear spouse......Sarah, if I remember? Is she on board with this? Is it her parents you are visiting in Montana? If not...you might just want to add a bit of extra bling under the tree next week. Too bad about the Porsche....but..you were gonna have to get rid of it once Little Miss ZPack gets her learner's permit cause that's the one she'd want to drive! Ohhh - welcome back - we missed you! |

Sarah is more into RV than me... it was her dad's dream to retire and travel in RV.. year before I started RX school... I went camping with her family to Sequoia Park.. in her dad's conversion van. Of course I slept in the tent lonesome..since we were just dating then. Right after the trip, her dad was diagnosed with liver cancer and passed away in 3 months.
In a way...she feels that we'll be realizing her dad's dream.. and she's an outdoors gal anyways.. We know no one in Montana.. but I hear trout fishing is awesome there... So if we can make an RV trip every summer cross country, it may be a worthwhile time spent annoying one another in a moving house fighting over a small shower. |

Turning in your Porsch will be well worth the memories you create with these trips with the kids. I've been to Montana - the trout fishing was so..so, but the scenery was spectacular! (Fishing was better in Idaho) And....stop fighting over the little shower. Put the kidlets to bed & share it !

Put a trailer hitch on the Porsche and buy a pop-up camper. It's so chique.

So of all the places you could go, you want to go to Montana? I'd die of boredom.

And Rutgers is literally beating the crap out of K-State. A team that beat Texas. 37-10 in the 4th? What, Texas couldn't handle these dolts?

You could also do Bass fishing north of Missoula over at NinePipes or Take a boat out on Flathead lake. (Phil Jackson has a house on the Lake, you could stalk him ) National Bison Range was a good visit, get buffalo burgers and Huckleberry shakes afterwards. For Sarah, if she likes sapphires, they have a place where you can dig your own. (Ask about Yogo sapphires, they're supposed to be better than standard Montana Sapphires) I hear there's not much prettier than Highway to the Sun going through Glacier NP. If you go in July-October there are 13+/- Indian reservations where you could see Pow-Wow in progress. Flathead is one of the safest reservations. I'd avoid Fort Peck, Northern Cheyenne/Crow reservations overnight. I could ramble on, but I digress

Farmer, Those are awesome recommendations and I will hit those spots years to come. Are you an Arkansan now in CA? I moved to AR after RX school and lived in Little Rock/Maumelle for 8 years. Our first cross country trip in an RV will be to the Tuolemne Meadows off HWY 120 intersecting the Eastern Sierras to Yosemite. Will flyfish for native trout.. My wife and I made that trip in a Jeep Wrangler in 1991 the summer before I started RX school. We didn't take enough pictures.. and it's time to go back. |

Did you ever consider the UAMS/UNM Nuclear Pharmacy program? Went on a 2-yr mission to Montana/Wyoming. (Men in Black get to play occasionally) So I got to visit a few places, and hear about the ones I couldn't make it to. Back to Football. Can't believe Razorbacks choked. Their D was killing Wisconsin all night long (negative yards rushing for the whole game) They just DO NOT HAVE A QB. Grrrr. Gators/Buckeyes should be good. Hopefully the UM/USC question is out of the way. Now we just need to see if it should have been UF in there or not. Last edited by Farmercyst; 01-03-2007 at 08:37 PM. Reason: Team Name |

Z finds the RV. How appropriate... it's called "Pusher" short for Diesel Pusher.. but we're adding "Pill" in front of the "Pusher"

Ehh.. I know. But drove the Diesel Pusher today... took the family for a ride... I think Sarah fell in love the moment Cummins turned over rumbling.. It's an awesome sound.
The RV drove like a dream... I like the way people cut me off and the way people move out of my way. Big vehicles rule! |

well...from what I understand Texas A&M will be our 3rd game of the season
We have a top 10 schedule next year, or at least it looks that way. We play Marshall, Oklahoma, Texas A&M (and that's the first three games of our season) and then those thugs from FIU |

Detroit has a Dome.
The whole "Bowl games only in the South" thing is complete bull****, by the way. It's a bult in advantage for teams South of the Mason-Dixon Line. It's football, not a pie cookoff. The games deserve to be in 23 degree weather. |

Yeah - and don't forget all those floats in the morning in Pasadena with the petals and seeds and .....oh those cute college girls!
When I was growing up in S CA - it was a tradition to go to the parade - we were hauled up to Pasadena in the dark, bundled up & sat on the curb for hours drinking hot chocolate (I think the adults had something a bit stronger), watched the parade then went to the Rose Bowl & had a tailgate party until the game began. By the time it actually started, who won or lost wasn't the issue anymore - it was just a perfect January day in S CA - it usually was! It rarely was anything but sunny & nice. It might rain the whole rest of the month, but Jan 1 was always nice. Thats like moving the Macy's Day Parade to Dallas - just not the same. But...I gotta say - I don't like having these bowl games go for so many days. I was actually interested in the Orange Bowl (Wake Forest is getting a significant part of my measly income!) & it was on the 2nd. The Cotton Bowl was on the 4th??? I think..... I liked it when the whole bunch was on one or two days - gave me something to watch as I put away the oranaments. |
