Default Anyone use Dat to go?

SDN Members don't see this ad.
There seems to be a good amount of information that's not in Cliff's. Has anyone used both sources and taken the DAT?

Default here is what you should use for cracking the DAT

You need to use the DAT Destroyer. It's an amazing book if you want to do well on the DAT. I know a lot of people that used that book and they aced the DAT.

Trust me, I've gone over destroyer at least 6-7 times in painstaking detail. To be honest, from what I've read from people's breakdowns and combining that with my own observations, destroyer doesn't seem very representative of the real DAT. People always complain about the level of detail expected from them on the real DAT. Destroyer bio does not reflect in-depth detail. There are a lot of reasoning/basic comprehension questions, and not enough obscure genera and useless detail of the sort. I've also done all of the kaplan online material, Topscore and Achiever exams. Add to that Cliff's, GRE Bio and Examkrackers for the MCAT. I guess maybe I am going overboard, but I'm taking the canadian DAT, and a 19 sitting at +90% ile scares me sh!tless. That's why I wanted to know whether DAT to go (it being a relatively new source) contained a more varied bank of questions geared more towards detail, as would be expected (going by people's breakdowns) from the real DAT. Thanks!

Are you studying on your own or have you taken a prep course because the only prep course you should have taken is with the person that created the DAT Destroyer- JIM ROMANO. Honestly I really do know a lot of people that have taken Romano and used the Destroyer book only and did amazing on the DAT. You really do need a prep course trust me because it pushes you to study more. You only took the DAT once? becauase you still have a chance to take it over and do exceedingly well.
I have a question for you too. Whats the difference between the Canadian DAT and the U.S. DAT? Is it easier or something?

I live in montreal, Quebec and even if I could get to new york, I don't think I could make it in time (canadian DAT is on the 7th of november. it's only offered twice a year, is paper based, and features the uber-efficient scoring system that takes anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks until you get your scores). I already did a prep course online (kaplan). I have never taken the DAT. As for your last question, I'm not sure what the difference is content-wise. Up here we have carving, but omit the Organic and Quantitative Reasoning portions of the exam. Also, we have 50 minutes for the Reading Comprehension portion of the exam, as opposed to the 1 hour you guys get. However, I can't imagine it being easier, if a 19 is mid-90th percentile for bio. Either that, or we're all geniuses.

I have the DAT to go bio and overall i like it but it does have some mistakes/typos, but nothing major, I'm sure you'll figure that out.
It has everything organized in a very easy to absorb format, if you got plenty of time and some extra money I'd say why not.

oh I thought you were from the U.S. and took the exam here and didn't like your score so now you want to take it elsewhere.
I guess since you did so much preparation already then you should be fine. Just take as many practice exams as you can and TIME yourself of course.
