I have not received an interview invitation and my application status has changed from "Application Received" to "Under Review". Does this mean I am passed or rejected?

I am Canadian by the way.

Not necessarily, it just means you are further under review..You could have been passed up, depending on the school, but they will review your app. later on

Hey for you guys/girls who got a USC interview, did you receive the snail mail document stating that you would be "under preliminary review and will remain under consideration until august"?

Never received that type of snail mail. The only snail mail i got was when they received my application fee. That's an odd letter to receive. Have you tried contacting the school? I've called them once (and asked REAL nice) about my application status, and the nice lady answered my questions. Good Luck!!

I think it's ridiculous people diss any dental program. Of course USC is a good dental school. That's why they receive 3,000 + applicants from around the nation per year (well and it's private adding to the applicant pool). People who talk poorly about programs are either spiteful or arrogant

Im going to disagree with you on these points. I think there are some "not so great" programs out there but it all depends on who you are. Whats good for you and good for me is 2 different things. People can simply give their input and you take it or leave it. I personally did not like USC and thought what you paid and what you got was a joke. I also was not a fan of 85% PBL, some is good but I feel its way too much. Im not spiteful because my cousin graduated from their dental school 3 years ago.

Ok, the way you are addressing USC is perfectly fine. Maybe I miss spoke. I agree, there are dental programs worse than other or like you said "not so great". And I tend to put more emphasis on the student's potential and desire to learn rather than the institutions ability to prepare them, which I know many will disagree with; but could be a reason I give schools more slack. I do know there are schools that prepare their dental students better than others

Now what I was referring to are posts that bash schools using unneeded slander. I've seen some posts about NYU and USC that do seem spiteful and unnecessary. Saying you weren't impressed by a school or that you don't want to spend 70 grand a year is fine.

Continuing on that unrelated note, did you know that Ed Helms actually took out his tooth for the part? He had an implant put in when he was a kid, but he asked his dentist to take it out for the movie.

I thought I was going to need to retake because of a 15 QR too, but 6 interview invites later, it is obviously not a problem. That's crazy of them to ask that of you, IMO.

I heard a lot of people got 15 QR this cycle. With those scores you'd be crazy to retake. Hopefully you have other interviews from schools that are more realistic.

FYI-I know 3 people that got into dental school last year with 13 QR.

Yea, I heard that. I was curious because after seeing the movie twice, you could tell the tooth was actually missing and it wasn't make up. I wasn't sure if it was special effects... I want to practice with someone like Stu, someone who will sing to me when I have a case of the Mondays

I understand asking applicants to retake but you have to look at the section. If i got a 15 in any of the other sections, I'd totally understand, but QR? I mean, really? lol

AA 23, TS 23, PAT 23, lowest score was 21 (QR)

3.49 cGPA, 3.95 sGPA

your status says Pre-Medical... did you write the MCAT?
If you wrote the MCAT, that's not good for dental school admission, dental schools don't wanted to be viewed as a backup...
and 18/18 is not very competitive unless you got 3.5+ pulling your stats up

I don't think writing the MCAT matters as long as you didn't/currently aren't applying to med school. But yea you still have time depending on when you applied, and how the rest of your application is.

Got a call today for a harvard interview

)). The available dates were Nov 5th/19th and more dates available after dec 1st. But it seemed like there was still a couple of spots left in those two days for pre-dec interviews.

I took the MCAT.. none of the schools knows that.. they never asked. I think i'm pretty ok.

Some schools actually don't like low or average DAT with a high gpa.. they prefer consistency (specifically said at UMDNJ -> Scores should correlate with the GPA.)

Yea, AADSAS schools only know if you have applied to medical schools. Some other schools may require you to mention if you have taken any other admission tests in your past.. Tennessee's application did

Hey guys, just curious about your opinions...I have a 20 ts/19 aa/21 pat and a 3.7 gpa but still haven't heard much from dental schools. I have just one interview up at buffalo. App mailed 8/10, applied to nyu, tufts, bu, umdnj, stony,buffalo etc. Should I be hearing something in the upcoming weeks??
