Do you have any acceptances anywhere else? If not, I'd think you should take the interview. If you do have acceptances then it's alright to be picky. But this process is too unpredictable to assume you're going to get interviewed/accepted at the perfect school. It's an extremely expensive process-- I hear ya on that...

Best of luck to you!

I scheduled my interview just in case so I'll definitely go if I do not obtain an acceptance somewhere else but I am currently waiting on another school (Touro NY) and if I do end up getting in there, that's another 2K to hold my spot in additon to whatever amount I'd pay to check out some other schools to try my luck.

But thanks, I do appreciate the advice.

i wasn't knocking on the school if that's how you interpreted it.
Apologies- I guess that did come off as a little critical, didn't it? Sorry about that. When I was applying to schools, I simply ruled out the ones in locations that I had no desire to spend four years in. I think there are enough schools out there that you can avoid going to an area you dislike. So if you know you would be unhappy in the Las Vegas area, please, by all means, drop it- you're better off focusing your energies on places that are right for you.

That being said, you're very right- you can't know a school very well until you've seen it and spoken with students. You may like it better than you think. At the very least, try to contact some current students online and ask them about the environmental elements that you're worried about. Maybe they'll confirm your concerns, of perhaps they can put them to rest. You're also free to ask me or anyone else who interviewed- obviously we know a lot less, but we did get a chance to get a feel for the place.

And yeah, this process is expensive. We all know that. If you get accepted at Touro NY, and you're satisfied with the experience you feel you'll have there, then you should take that acceptance and cancel interviews at schools you're not sure about. If a school you think (not necessarily know) you might like better offers to interview you, though, you've got a tough decision. At the end of the day, though, you're going to be 200k in debt in four years or so. Might as well max out the credit card now...

Don't worry about it

I've thought long and hard (I guess haha) and I've decided to go. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

ACCEPTED as well!!! I interviewed on 10.20. I was told that we would be getting an official letter next week and should we decide to attend we have to send the form back and we have 2 weeks to send the deposit.

I'm withdrawing all my other apps and attending here. This is a great school and they have everything together. See you all there.

Congratulations!

The deposit is due within two weeks of receiving your letter. The deposit is refundable except for $100 (thank you Nevada state law- most DO schools are not as forgiving!).

Like JediZero said, two weeks. However, if you can't scrape together $2000 in two weeks, they will work with you on a payment schedule.

Exclamation Tour Coordinator

Hey every1,
My name is Sam and I'm currently an OMS-2 student and the Tour Coordinator for Touro-NY. Although I work very closely with Obed and the Deans, I in no way work FOR them (don't get paid). This allows me to speak whatever is on my mind. I am currently working on setting up a schedule for this year's tour ambassadors (those that show you around school). If any1 has any questions about the school (application, pro/cons, etc.) feel free to email me at shalom.butel@student.touro.edu . Most people know me as a very straightforward/no BS type of person. Feel free to send me an email anytime, and I'll try to get back to you asap! Looking forward to seeing you here as a member of Class of 2014!

Here it is from the response sheet you will send in accepting your acceptance:

NOTE: All accepted applicants are required to submit two deposits in order to secure a place in the Fall entering class. This includes a $2,000 acceptance deposit (payable within two weeks after the date of the Letter of Acceptance) and a $1,000 tuition deposit due prior to May 15, 2010. These deposits will be fully applied toward your first semester's tuition. The total tuition deposit ($3,000 less $100) is refundable provided cancellation is made prior to the first day of mandatory orientation.

Any refund requests must be submitted in writing by registered mail, return receipt. The postmark on your request determines the applicable date for refund calculations. There are absolutely no exceptions to the refund policy.

That's weird. Yeah, mine says $100. Guess if they try to say otherwise if I don't go here, I have it in writing that I get it all but $100.

You have it in writing, too. Look in the Financial Information box in AACOM's College Information Book:

http://www.aacom.org/resources/books...010-tuncom.pdf

All but $100 of deposit is refundable.

Is attendance mandatory for NV Touro? And do they record lectures?

They just started recording their lectures this year. I think attendance is part of your grade and it is mandatory to attend class 70% of the time.

Just going off memory, there is an attendance policy. I believe it is 70% for lectures and 100% for labs. I don't recall if they record lectures or not.

Waitlisted.

Does anyone know what the chances are of being accepted once you're on Touro's waitlist? How many people are on it and how many do they typically pull off of it?

I was accepted a while back now. Interviewed on September 15th, heard about a week later. Anycow, I post here so that those who have decide to attend can begin to get to know each other before we go. I started a Facebook Group "Touro University - Nevada COM 2014" It only has me so far. If there is another, someone post it, but come join me.

Thanks

hi guys. i submitted my secondary about a month ago and i have not received any correspondance from the school at all about it. i know they got it since they cashed the check (10/20). do they email/call/mail you anything indicating that they're received your app and its being reviewed? and how long does it take for them to give you an invite (or rejection)?

Haha, you've been making the rounds here, haven't you? They sent me a secondary within a couple of days of getting my transcript (which they only requested after I sent my secondary). Good luck!

Has anyone heard anything today about a decision post-interview?? I interviewed on Nov. 9th and thought decisions were supposed to be sent out today via email (as long as we told Gladys we were okay with email notification). Do I have the date wrong? Thanks!
