what's the status after "NO ACTION" if you're not rejected? does it change to "UNDER REVIEW" ?

He's asking what it is if you got an interview. I'm sure he'd know what non-accept or rejected means.

Which reminds me. Why do they say "non-accept"? Why not "rejected"? I mean if you read from right to left, why do they have to tease you with an "accept" before the "non".

That was a weird post.

As I understand it changes to NON ACCEPT in case of rejection, what happens when the application is uner review or interview is offered - does it still say NO ACTION?

Just interview yesterday. Loved the school and the fantastic Mr. Rosso.

FYI My status page still says no action and it should change to a decision today or tomorrow.

I also hear they they waitlist almost everyone and that people on high waitlist are almost the equivalent of accepted.

Does anyone know the name of the second year student who does interviews. She has blond hair. Her name is Victoria S something like that?

Buffalo's admissions committee meets every week after the interviews, so they make a decision on every applicant the day of the interview, and then let you know the next day.

Mr. Rosso, the guy you speak to on the phone and the one that sends out our emails, and Dr. Severin, the Dean, discussed how rejection sounds like too strong of a word.
Rejection is just soo negative...See the school is very empathetic about how they relay information to you, kinda like the aspiring docs they try to create =)

On the facebook group for the SUNY buffalo 2nd years, there is a Victoria Isakova....only victoria listed for the group of 130+...but
she does not have blond hair, though (at least in the pick)

I'm sure you're thinking you've already been rejected. That's possible. I just checked my status myself and it still says "No Action".

Buffalo also has really weird computer networks so perhaps their servers are having problems. If it's still like that tomorrow I'd call up and check.

Some have heard in like two days. Others, like me, have heard nothing since July.

I am having a similar problem. I am trying to pay my acceptance deposit online and it says I cannot complete it because my student number is not found. I called and yes they are having technical problems. I probably will just send a check.

Default Scholarship

Does anyone know what UB would consider a significant financial burden.

I am considering whether or not to apply for a scholarship to UB and it requires an essay on why I am financially burdened and why I deserve a scholarship.

If you have a family and child you need to support, if you're parents are poor and you need to feed you siblings, etc.

Chances are if you have to ask, you're just being greedy and you probably don't have a significant burden (remember its perfectly normal to come out of med school with $125k in debt) and you should just be happy you got into a public-tuition school: you're already ahead of most. But of course there is no harm in applying.

C'mon Buff.

The only SUNY who hasn't responded to me in some form.

And also the closest SUNY to my hometown.

Same here- I live 5 minutes away from both UB campuses. My MCAT score will probably merit a rejection, how sad! Hope you hear something soon!

I was under the impression that an acceptance/waitlist/rejection is based solely on your interview, that each interviewer assigns a score of 1-5 and they get averaged together.1=acceptance, 2=high WL 3= mid WL 4= Low WL 5= "non accept."

If that's the case your interview must have been pretty bad. Have you received any other decisions from other schools? Because if 2 interviewers at Buffalo did not like you and if all the other schools have rejected you post interview then maybe there's an issue with your interview performance that you need to work on.

How exactly did you expect people to respond? Most people can understand, getting rejected stinks. You can't always assume that every school you apply to/ interview with is going to think you are the right fit- no matter how "awesome, detailed or deep" you are. Act like an adult and take the rejection with a little more class. If you are really as solid of an applicant as you maintain you are, you will get in somewhere else and you'll forget about the places that rejected you.

I'm sorry that you got rejected. You may feel anger towards the school for doing what it did, but I don't think anything you do at this point will reverse their decision. It probably would be best to move on.

You probably have other schools to interview at so be at peace.

Honestly, I felt a TON of empathy until I saw the awesome/detailed/deep thing, then it just sounded cocky to me. But then again, this is the internet- and sometimes things can be taken the wrong way. Trust me, I of all people don't think I am elite or better than anyone. I guess you and I just vent differently. Good luck to you and I hope the rest of your interviews translate into some good news.

You know, it really boils down to our 9 months of winter here. When we are all cooped up and bored here indoors, you start to become really good at analyzing everyone since all you do is sit and stare at each other...waiting like caged animals for spring!! (No joke!)

On a more serious note, why would you get rejected?? Are you still in the "no action" group that is going on here? Everytime I see those 2 stupid words on my file, I hear "I want action" by Poison in my head!

He was interviewed, had great stats, apparently did well in the interview, but was rejected.

Also, as a fellow Buffalonian, what is this spring you refer to? Are you talking about the two weeks during August where the snow is thin enough for construction?

Hey, anyone think I should send an Letter of Interest? Can't remember if I already asked that. Haven't been interviewed--still "no action" on my application and I'd love to go here (for obvious reasons).

You caught me, I was trying not to scare the OOS'ers with our rediculous weather here. I did enjoy our 2 weeks this year though.

It was glorious. Maybe this year you will catch it before med school starts to own your soul! Also, if you are realllly lucky- the nice weather will coincide with Trashfest, aka Canalfest, this year. What a way to usher in MS1 !!!

On a more serious note, why would you get rejected?? Are you still in the "no action" group that is going on here? Everytime I see those 2 stupid words on my file, I hear "I want action" by Poison in my head!
Oh man, I was hoping the snow wasn't so bad that I would be able to get a front wheel drive Prius instead of a 4x4. Maybe if I get mack-daddy snow tires and chains it would be ok to drive a Prius. I just don't feel comfortable getting a car that isn't "green" and the only decent 4x4 I know of seems to be a ford escape hybrid (that is an AWD isn't it).

The highlander hybrid i used to drive does well in buffalo snow, and there is also taho hybrid, silverado hybrid, aspen hybrid, vue hybrid, rx 350 hybrid, etc...but i recommend a diesel (ex. vw toureg) since the cold really hampers the battery's storage capacity.

You'll be fine- its really about how careful you are driving. I've had a ton of small, FWD cars (Tiburon, Neon) over the years, and I managed to survive every winter here! You'll be fine with the Prius, just get good snow tires.

So in all seriousness, Buffalo's reputation as snowiest city is extremely undeserved. Here's a page that clears up some of those misconceptions:

http://www.buffaloresearch.com/snow.html

It pretty much just snows about 1 inch every day here during January and February (it snows less and less the further you get from those months). Anything over 6 inches is extremely rare. The main roads and highways are kept extremely clean, some of the side streets aren't plowed at all though. When I first came here I was extremely surprised with how little snow there was, but I was equally surprised with how cold it was. Buffalo IS a cold city, but it's not that snowy relatively speaking. And the coldness is awesome for summers: the temperature is pretty much 80 degrees every day May through August. You don't even need air conditioning.

The last 2 years have had much less snow than previous years. Let's hope this is a continuing trend!!!

at my upstate interview i was told that it snows in syracuse more than buffalo b/c of the great lake effect (lake freezes near buffalo but not near syracuse)
also, i just called and was told NO ACTION means your application has yet to be reviewed. hurry up, buffalo!
