SDN Members don't see this ad.
So I know like 90% of OOS can be come IS @ Toledo, OSU, Cinci, etc. But one thing I didn't realize is that you have to be 100% financially indepedant unless it comes from an Ohio source...hmmm
So basically the plan was I was going to pay tution, while parents paid for living expensives etc. Wouldn't this disqualify me from ever getting IS tuition? Damn...everything has to have fine print lol

Yeah exactly...another idea I just got is if I get accepted there, have my parents set up a 1 year savings account in my name. This way, all their financial support would be given to me 12 months before residency, which according to the state IS legal. ex) have parents set up $80,000 savings account in my name July 2010. By July 2011, when I claim residency, I will have been 1 year without any parental aid, yet I still have 80k. |

I don't think I'm so bad when tons of people on here have their patents pay 100% of cost of attendance, which can often be 250-300k |

I guess-just realize how INCREDIBLY lucky you are and that there are probably way more people than those two groups combined (with full/partial parental support) paying for it all on their own. Everyone has to grow up and become financially independent at some point! |

I do realize how extremely lucky I am- trust me. I do not take my parents money for granted one bit. In fact, I tried to tell them not to help me because I want their retirement/well being to be first and foremost. My dad wouldn't take no for an answer and claimed he saved up for this...oh well. Just FYI though- I've paid my for almost all of my undergrad MYSELF through scholarships and working. So my dad said since I saved him so much money putting myself through undergrad this is his present back to me. Still, I am very grateful and even feel guilty receiving help. Anyways- does anyone else know about this OOS --> IS thing? |

When I interviewed at OSU they told us we could change residency and get lower tuition--it was one of their selling points during the presentation.

That is contingent on you not getting support from your parents because then you would not qualify for instate tuition. Read the previous posts. Even the original poster realizes this.

You have no ****ing right to accuse me of fraud...I made this thread because I found the residency form vague at best. It CLEARLY states you cannot receive financial support 12 months prior to switching. It is therefore within the law to receive financial support 13 months before...IF IT WERE ILLEGAL IT WOULD BE STATED. If this is illegal, I sure as hell won't do it. Maybe that's why I made this thread to get help and not get harassed by people like you? |
