So in July I'm doing my "audition" rotation for the Air Force residency program at Wright-Patt, my number one choice. Then I'm taking the board exams, COMLEX and USMLE, in the middle of August.
Does anyone know how many hours per week you work on this rotation? Either way, I'll be using all my free time to study for Step II, but I'm just curious how much free time I'll have. It's not a laziness thing, I love EM and want to work, it's just unfortunate this could only be done the month before boards, but I'll start studying early so that isn't too much of a problem. If anyone has done this rotation, I'd love to hear about it, just so I have an idea of what to expect. Thanks. Jake |

The program is a small, community ED. You'll work 4 or so 8-hour shifts each week with a medical student lecture day and Friday grand rounds at Wright State added on. There's also an animal lab once each month that's well done. I remember doing progressive shift work: days, evenings, then overnights. You'll certainly have some down time for studying between shifts, but I used that time for reading Hamilton. I wouldn't think that it's a good rotation for board prep.
