Which one is more helpful? Which one is more representative of the MCAT? Who has had success using either one of these? Any input is appreciated.

I'm wondering this myself. I'm using EK for content review, and so it seems easier just to go through the EK 1001 passages since it corresponds with the lectures. But I'm going to try BR as well. If you're interested here is a list of EK lectures and the corresponding BR passages:

NOTE: The notation tells which chapter and which passage in TBR Bio. For example: "5-3" means BR chapter 5, passage #3.

I came up with this breakdown on my own, but feel free to comment if you think a particular passage should belong in a different lecture.

EDIT: I'm having trouble formatting the above, but it should be pretty self-explanatory.

Didn't use BR, but I thought the EK passages were pretty representative of what was on the real deal. They do a good job with all the nuances of the passages and making the questions very difficult. I thought that as a whole, the EK passages were probably a little harder than the actual test. That's a good thing in my opinion, but others may not think so.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation. Does anyone know which resource is better?

both!! try to do at least the 2nd book for TBR. i think i did one chapter of passages in 2-3 days.

Anyone care to rank them in terms of helpfulness? Which should I focus on more? If you do rank them, please explain your ranking. Thanks.

It's funny how SN2ed and many other people rave about how great BR Bio passages are, and then you have people saying they are complete garbage?

it does not take a MONTH to receive the books in the continental US. if you actually read the instructions on TBR's site, then you know NOT to pay by check. they said directly on their site that your books will not be mailed until the check is cashed. if you pay by money order, you will get the books in a few days. I live in the midwest, sent my money order in on a Tuesday and got all the books in a huge box in 3 days.

I just finished TBR's organic, gen chem, and physics books. theyr'e amazing. I've been through Kaplan and EK's and they just can't compare. TBR whoops the other companies because of all their passages. Kaplan has no passages and EK's passages are worthless. it is integral to do passages as you are doing content review. Note: I said passages, not full-length tests. you learn how to apply the material through taking passages.

I avoided TBR's bio becuase of all the hate it gets on these forums haha. the bio part of the BS really is all about reading comprehension. you don't need to know discrete details on bio. I'm going to do a quick bio review with EK bio and then EK 101 passages and TPR science workbook.

I haven't tested my knowledge yet on a FL test, though. I won't be doing that until April, mainly because I want to make sure I'm fully rejected from schools this year before I invest in buying more practice tests lol.

Well for content I agree with those guys. Passages are somewhat useful I thought.

The BR love I see is for Chem/Physics/OChem. I haven't seen the BR books, so I can't comment. All I can say is that I'm satisfied with my EK1001 purchase.

Anyone know if the BR Bio passages are good/worth doing? It seems to be getting a lot of mixed reviews...can anyone help clarify how these compare to TPR Science Workbook and EK Bio 1001.

I have all three of them...Personally I think EK 101 >> TPR>BR!! If you also have them then just switch around the material!! they all essentially test the same concept but sometime you will find that one book might have better overall passages...As I have said..I think EK is really good on Bio!

Hi, by EK101 for bio, what you guys mean is basically a book that is about 299 pages (when including passage solutions)... it has 900 passages (wha-? how is that possible), i.e. exactly 1001 questions?

It does not have any lecture/content material; it is simply a book of 1001 questions sometimes arranged into passages, sometimes arranged as free standing questions?

I just wanted to make sure I understood what you guys are saying when you're saying I use/don't use/love/hate the EK bio resource(s) over another book. Thanks.
