what materials did you use?

I have finished almost all of AP cliff biology minus the lab part and was wondering where I should go next. Also, did you memorize every single detail on ap cliff?

thanks.

Hi, I got 24 on bio and here's what i used.

I used clifffs (yeah try to memorize as much as you can from this book, it's really good), barron's ap biology (good one too, lots of diagrams and supplements any missing info. from cliffs), barron's ap flashcards, alan's notes (adding your own notes to it), dat destroyer. Near the end I used topscore and achiever.

However, remember that definitely breadth over depth.

I got a 21 in biology. I recommend Cliffs! and physiology classes if possible. I had not taken any anatomy or physiology and it was very difficult, and time consuming. The real exam was also pretty tough! there were things that i had never seen before, but again i did not have much experience in bio (only taken bio 1 and 2).

Good luck to you! study hard!

Got a 23.

In addition to the above, I used KBB, and several chapters of Campbell's bio textbook. My emphasis was on Barron's AP bio, the flash cards that you can get to accompany it are just alright.

Eh, mostly because I had strong bio background so I didn't really need book materials....just some weak areas like plant, animal diversity (qvault chart is really good), etc.

I figured. The price I paid for being a history major.

I got a 21 and used KBB, Cliffs and Destroyer. I added to Alan's notes from those sources and studied that the last 2 weeks.

Chad didn't have biology videos when I was studying for the DAT. Oh, speaking of videos, reminds me that I also used Khan Academy for a few topics, especially for kidney function.

I took qvault free diagnostic test and got killed (16). I thought the questions were hard. Is the real DAT gonna be this hard?

I only had the intro bio courses so I spent a lot of time in bio. I read Cliffs AP and Barrons AP cover to cover 5+ times each and did every question in the books along the way. I also did some of DAT destroyer (about the 1st half), DAT Qvault, and Top Score. I got mid 20's on bio because of all the prep. Those who say bio is sooooo random and that they were caught off guard by stuff may not have adequately prepared.

Qvault is pretty representative of the real DAT bio. The exception (at least on my version of the DAT) was that Qvault has some anatomy/physiology topics (bones for example) that weren't covered in gen bio 1 & 2 and those did not show up on the real DAT for me. That made Qvault a little harder until I studied that stuff since I hadn't had anything above gen bio when taking the DAT.

It depends on how lucky you are. The bio section is very random. If you want to be sure, you can leave your self enough time for retake if you didn't do well on bio. You can hope for a better set of questions the second time around.

Yup the bio section is pretty random. Know AP Cliffs in and out. Also, I recommend using a physio book since AP Cliffs isn't too strong in that.

I got a 28 in Bio and this is what I used:

Cliffs AP Bio - I read it in depth once and then quickly twice.
Barrons AP Bio - I read it quickly once.
DAT Destroyer - I did every problem once and marked the ones I got wrong. I then went through the ones I got wrong again two times.
500 AP Bio questions - I did every single question in this book twice.
DAT q Vault - I did all ten tests. The day before my exam I read over every single question and answer again to make sure I understood them.

I studied for less than one month. I devoted about 75% of my time for Bio and it paid off. Just finishing up with Cell Bio and Genetics was critical for my success. Cell Bio was the most crucial for my success and I would not have gotten that score without it. Taking the exam was not easy either, as I felt stumped on like 5-6 questions. I just tried to reason my way through them and pick the most logical answer.

I got a 24 on Bio and mostly just studied the practice questions from TopScore and Achiever, making flash cards for pretty much every question. Whenever I wasn't totally confident with the answer, I would consult my bio textbook from college and/or wikipedia. For flashcards, on the front, I would write the question and all of the possible answers, and then the correct answer (plus explanation, if needed) on the back. It helped tremendously as a study tool.

I got a 26 and studied very similarly to this, so there must be something to it. Check my DAT breakdown for exactly what I did.

I went in with only Bio 1 & 2 under my belt, and from a community college no less, so those upper division bio classes are definitely not necessary (though I don't doubt they help!).
