Ditto on what coolingglasses said! I heard it won't be impossible, but most of the better spots will be unavailable, so you'll have to dig around more and perhaps be willing to pay a little more.

Two years ago I lived in a building filled with rowdy undergrads (should've expected this though), so the bar is set pretty low for me as far as study environment and neighbors.

Great...I just put a deposit down on a new construction place with them. Luckily it's a condo, so there's a driveway/garage...maybe plowing won't be an issue. You've got me concerned about them as landlords for maintenance issues, though. What kind of issues have you had with new construction?

Ha well good! Your first block weekend might be a different story when it comes to tolerating noise

So I've been looking through the "budget" and max amount of loans you can receive (which I will max out)... HOLY CRAP! This is getting real. Total is 77.5K for next year. Makes me throw up to think that none of that is subsidized and the interest rates are outrageous for the stafford and gradplus loans. Basically, if tuition increase is around 2K a year, then I'm expecting that will come out to be about 320K before interest at the end of school. BLEHHHH

Nope, it's been quiet on my end. I figured the soonest I would hear anything would be around the end of March/early April, so I'm not surprised. I sent a letter of intent about a week ago.

Do you have any insight?

The last deadline should be in a few days, you should start hearing about movement after then.

If this school is your first choice, definitely let them know. Also if you have other schools that have accepted let KCOM know as well. I called them the day i found out that I'd been accepted for 2018 unless a seat opened. I'd already had 2 acceptances and was waiting to hear back from another but told them KCOM was my first choice but that I had to put a deposit down elsewhere (KCUMB or KYCOM) by a certain date. I also told them I was turning down/cancelling the other 5 interviews I had scheduled because I knew that KCOM was where I was supposed to be. They called me back within 2 business days offering a seat for the class of 2017. Good luck! If you do get in and are looking for a roommate i am renting a 2 bedroom/ 2 full bath duplex 5 minutes from campus

I can't get to FB from my work so I can't chat it to you, but if you've been accepted, Andrea or someone else in admissions have sent/will send you an email with a link to it. Maybe search your email? If you still don't have it a little later, I'll post it.

Thanks for this post! I sent in a letter of intent about a month ago saying that KCOM was my top choice but I still have not heard anything back about my accepted pending position yet. Anybody else have any luck recently with movement? Would it be overkill to send in another letter of intent?

A friend of mine who is also on the accepted pending list emailed Donna on Monday, and she emailed back saying that there are many people who did nod turn in their deposit by the 15, and they are currently checking in on those people to make sure their payment isn't in the mail. There will be movement soon once they double check everything!

My friend got a call yesterday late afternoon. He had called earlier in the day and told them that he had an acceptance elsewhere and had a deposit coming due but preffered KCOM. They asked if they could call him back so that they could look over his file again. An hour later he got his acceptance call. So, there is some movement already happening. I suspect that there will be calls going out to others shortly.

I'm assuming everyone on the accepted pending list got the email from Donna this weekend? I wonder if this means our chances of getting in July 2013 are diminishing...

How many of us are still on this list?

Yup, got the same message. It sounds like our chances are diminishing as Donna mentioned that the empty seats have been filled for now ... Anybody else still waiting?

I'm pretty open as to whether I get in this year's class or next year's. I have a steady job and it wouldn't hurt to save a little start-up money for next year, if I had to make that choice. It is much less stressful with the knowledge that I will be in medical school regardless.

As an alternate I did not get an email at all from Donna. I wonder if that means the chances as an alternate are even slimmer?

As far as I understand it, they do not pull from the alternate list until the accepted pending seat list is empty. :/ So at the moment the chance is prolly slim to non.Good Luck!

Yes. Also, if i wasn't I would not say that. They probably watch boards here and there and probably also only accepted one student. Therefore, they would know who I was and what I said. However, that is irrelevant and I plan on sending in my deposit as soon as I get the mail.

Play nice... Don't get too worked up, they aren't going to rescind your offer of acceptance just because you said you were questioning going somewhere else on an anonymous internet forum.

Default IPAD KCOM for HPSP Students

Greetings

Hopefully this question can be answered by some current KCOM HPSP students. I know the military will not cover the cost of buying, only renting of, a laptop, does any current student know if they were required to buy their own IPAD or did the military cover the cost?

Thank you

Email from Donna yesterday about alternate list.
"As we are getting closer to the July 2013 start for KCOM, I wanted to touch base with you to see if you would like to remain on our alternate list or whether you have already made plans for next year. At this time I'm not sure if we will need to select folks from the alternate list but want to be ready if needed. Please reply to this email or give me a call to confirm if you want to remain on the list or whether we should close your file. Thank you!"

Hi, though I am not a HPSP student I believe I can shed some light on this. In the student budget there is a section that is deemed "Diagnostic equipment". This part of the budget includes our cardiology III stethescope, our welch diagnostic set, and the iPad, ect. There is not a separate category for the iPad alone unlike the separate computer portion. So, since this is now considered required equipment, I believe that it will be covered under the HPSP. "We will pay 100 percent of your tuition, plus we will also pay for required books, equipment and most academic fees..." (http://www.goarmy.com/amedd/education/hpsp.html) If you are still worried about it, I would call the financial aid office for clarification. I hope this helps

Here is the link If you would like to take a gander at this budget I'm referring to: http://www.atsu.edu/financial_aid/do...pWS2013-14.pdf

Default Where is everyone living?

I'm trying to find a place with central heat and air, and I would prefer hardwood floors, but I can't really find anything fitting this description online. Where are some nice places to live? I am female and single in my mid twenties. I'd be fine living alone or living in a house with roommates.

How is COL in Kirksville? Pretty low? Are there many students that buy houses instead of renting?
