So I was driving home on my lunch break yesterday and saw a seagull get hit by a car. He was sort of flopping around so I stopped and picked him up so he didn't have to die in the hot sun on the road. He was lateral, head limp. I put him on the passenger floorboards and turned around back to work to euthanize him and put him out of his misery. I wasn't sure he would even make it. He had no blood or gore trauma, but was gasping for breath and unresponsive. He was making sad dying seagull noises. I turned onto the road the shelter is on and he suddenly stood up, vomited 3 fish, a whole shrimp, and intact waffle fry on my floor mat. He then stumbled around the floor and wedged himself between the passenger door and the seat. I get to work and slowly open passenger door. He scurries into the backseat floorboards. At this point I was drawing an audience. I was trying to catch the bird without getting bit. He was feisty. After chasing him all around the car for a few minutes I finally just chased him out of the car. This was a terrible idea because now I was chasing him around the parking lot. After finally cornering him, I grabbed him. Wings felt fine. I did the "bird toss" to see if he could fly...sure enough he flies away, lands on the fence then takes off, never to be seen again.

I just....hahah. the reason I couldn't catch him is because I was laughing so hard. After all that, the stupid seagull was fine.

His mission here on earth stealing food from tourists was not over.

this is hilarious

My rave: on Friday I got a letter from my undergrad. I didn't actually graduate - lots of credits but not the "right ones" to get a degree in anything. Oh well. So for all they know I just haven't registered for classes yet in the fall. But this letter says that I won an award for excellence in the study of history (my major) and that they're giving me a bunch of money! It's not a scholarship either - just a straight up prize and a check with my name on it. It took me by complete surprise too, I didn't apply for this or anything. It will go towards our "buying a car" fund

Decided I am moving back to the cities, sometime in the next 6 months. (Hi, LIS and a bunch of others )

Was parusing, just casually looking at job prospects and come across a sweet one at the University!

Wish me luck! I could really use it, as I'm guessing a TON of people will be applying.

Awesome! Free money is always a good thing. I didn't complete a degree either, but all I get from my undergrad is letters asking me to buy class rings, and letters "to the parents". (I'm 29, married, and my parents live on the other side of the country. They don't have any control over my college education.) Yours sounds much more fun. Hope you get to enjoy that new car soon!

I can't even imagine how funny it would be to see you chasing the bird around...and how bad those fish and shrimp must have smelled in your car! At least it was on the floor mat, and not the seat!

That's exciting! I'm leaving my job at the U to start school this fall. Parking is a huge pain - if you can swing it I'd suggest living as close as possible to campus if you end up working there - I bike all summer just to save on parking.

Good luck!

Thanks!

It would be working at the VMC cleaning, basically.
Exam rooms, bunch of deep cleaning stuff in the hospital.
It's sort of a crapshoot whether I get an interview or not. Don't have experience with cleaning hospitals. But, I've had cleaning jobs before and worked on Biosecure and Research farms. So, hopefully, that puts me in.

Went to my parents on saturday to celebrate father's day and go to the lake but it ended up raining. Decided to go shopping and my mom and dad took me by best buy and surprised me with a Samsung note for vet school. So freaking excited! I love it already!

I was talking to the vet I work with at the zoo today and it came up how much debt she was in when she graduated. She left school 5 years ago with 200k in debt and is getting by just fine. She has no problem with normal expenses (it's just herself and her cat though) and still has the money to go on vacation and do other fun things. I'm expecting to have about that much debt when I graduate so it's nice to see someone who isn't making a lot of money out of school and is still getting by just fine. Made me feel a lot more positive about my future.

I will always love Alistair, but seeing Morrigan in the preview was a thrill.

I don't know WTF happened in the 2nd, Rainheart. SO much potential wasted.

Looks like Sandal's prophecy is going to come true, literally, in the 3rd.

I always played as a male, so Morrigan was my love <3 Anxiously waiting for the release of the third one!! Who knows what will happen But I agree, WTF did happen with DAII. So many things could have been done with it.

Is DA II worth playing? I really enjoyed the first one, but heard so much complaints about how awful the second one was that I never got it. Suppose it could be worth catching up on if the third one is done right.

While we're on the subject of video games...I'm really stoked for KH3

It's been seven years since II, finally something, even if it was just a trailer.

I'd replay it for the Fenris romance storyline, but I'm a sap like that. My main problem with the game is that I love exploration, and the entire game world consisted of like 3 maps that just repeat over and over.

It definitely had its highlights and there are some major events that, if they haven't been spoiled for you already, are worth experiencing.

That was one of the major complaints I heard about II, that they really changed the style into a much more closed world game.

I'll probably just wait on Inquisition to be released and if it's good, snag it and a cheap used copy of DA II.

Probably the best plan of action. It was such a poor followup to the first game, I really can't rave about anything it had to offer, unfortunately.

My first day "off" in a long time (Quotes because I still had to go in for stupid rounds bright and early this morning) and it was awesome. Got some shopping done (new shoes so hopefully my feet wont be crying by the end of a long shift! and some tops that I really didn't need but oh well), made a trip down to OKC for the shopping which also involved a stop at Dunkin Donuts and then Whole Foods for some seafood, played outside with the dogs, played with ponies, and grilled yummy steaks and drank wine with a very good friend that I don't get to see nearly enough of

Tomorrow I have to be at the VTH by 7am after a week of overnights. This oughta be a fun adjustment.

They're pretty freakin delicious. I prefer them iced though. Once my mom order one, and her barista responded with "how dirty do you want it?" I would have died laughing if it had been me.

had to google this because my first thought that the dirty is from olive juice just didn't make a whole lot of sense.
the actually answer sounds good though!
