Default Residency Interviews: Signing that you saw the contract

Hi Everbody!

What is the deal with programs having us sign that we saw the contract during the interview?

Only some progs have me doing this - why some and not others?

thanks

It's a requirement from the NRMP. Presumably some programs are more paranoid about documenting they met this requirement than others. Maybe they've gotten burned in the past... or maybe they're just paranoid. I wouldn't think much of it.

Thanks.

Like 50% of my IV's have consisted of signing something saying I saw a contract and refusal to serve coffee until you do.

I wonder what the exact requirement is. I've visited really nice low- to mid-tier academic programs where the applicants weren't shown a contract at all, but where the contract and terms of appointment are easily available on the GME portion of their website.

That satisfies the requirement by the NRMP.
