No, my dad lives in Dallas and his FB pictures from today show only a little bit of snow which was melting. I'm in AZ.

"Law of the internet" = posters are assumed to be male until otherwise proven? Interesting.

Interesting especially since my profile has my picture, my gender, I am listed as "Cougariffic", my sig file has my real name and I frequently talk about shoes, glitter and other such girl type stuff. Oh and then there's the fact that most people here know who I am. I am almost affronted that you have not spend such time figuring this out.

You Mr. Specter will be a horrible Doctor because of your lack of attention to small details.
Seriously, 6K SDN posts and thinks WS is a man?

Burnett's law has been invoked for this faux pas, better watch out!

Dilatation is a very common word in medicine, FWIW. Especially in surgery, GI and radiology fields (among others).

OK. I have sufficiently creeped on you now. Surgeon, lots of cities, no Y, hates twitter. I shan't make such a mistake again. (That was a-gain, not a-ghen. Hail to the queen. Cheerios and such)

And I even hesitated with the generalization before posting and then went for it anyways

Faux pas? Speaking of pronunciations. This is how my brothers and I entertained ourselves while stuck in oil country.

Smurfette is a female surgeon as well, FWIW. You'd be better off around here assuming female.

My brother and I used to say, "fox paws" as it drove our French teacher insane.

Cheerio and all that sort of rot.

A mod/admin droppin' Burnett's Law on a poster? Isn't that like dividing by zero?

Do you have Netflix? There is a documentary from about 08 called "the moment of death" (or something) and a doctor in there literally uses Billy Crystals "mostly dead" line. It was awesome

Oh you are definitely right as usual. But you and I both know that some physicians use dilatation to purposely exude what they think is superiority, but smells more like douche to me.

Perhaps. There will always be people like that, in every profession. But I am more concerned about real mispronunciations by educated people.

That, and poor table manners. Is teaching this in the home out of fashion? Over the last three weeks I have seen more than my share of people holding their forks in the manner of a two-year-old or talking with their mouths full. Forks are not supposed to be grabbed in the fist as if they're a shiv and you're ready for a cellblock C assault.

True. Sometimes I feel like people pretend the % of *******s in medicine is somehow inexplicably unequal (less) to the % in the general population. To be honest when I hear a pronunciation that sounds foreign to me, I never know if it is an alternate form or true MISpronunciation.

Oh no, there are just as many, if not more *******s in medicine, as in the general public. Tje bottom line is: if you are secure in yourself and who you are, you don't need to make other people feel bad.
