At that hourly rate you would be making over $185,000 a year if you worked full time... If this is the case I am impressed. At that point I would save that cash money to pay for medical school.

I work part time as an EMt, but I only pick up shifts when I can, plus I can study when I'm working if I'm not getting my butt handed to me. But I don't do it for the money, I do it because I like it

If you perform well enough on Step 1 and the question banks you can write for a question bank. I work for a a major COMLEX bank which pays well considering I sit at my computer and write questions during my free time...

I substitute taught some. $75 a day. I would try to pick up days for coaches gone to tournaments. Would probably be only at the school for 3 hours or so but would get a full day rate.

I <3 this post. I have plenty of friends in med school. I did a questionaire and here are there answers: : 1.) "buy cheap (broken) xbox consoles on craigslist, fix what's wrong and resell- usually gets about $90 profit" 2.) "During summer go to garage/yard sell, buy cheap clothes, or great items and resale them- at school or online- usually get $2-3 profit per item" 3.) "During weekends Pet sit professors or community's fur children for a flat rate- usually $30 profit an hour" 4.) "Post tutor brochures at local grocery stores- usually $20/hr" 5.) MY FAVORITE OF ALL TIME "bought a peddlers license (Dirt cheap), sold cookies and brownies on the weekends at local fairs or events- Profit $200/day-------------------- Well hopefully this info helps. My friends have definitely stepped out the box to try to get some extra cash. So far so good; however, these will not make you rich and its just to help with gas and etc

I don't really have *plans* to work during medical school, and I certainly won't depend on any potential employment income, but I haven't entirely ruled out the possibility of picking up a few hours here and there. I imagine this would most likely be during summers and/or holiday breaks. But I'm also nontraditional, and I've been working for years in admissions at a psych hospital as a licensed mental health counselor. Since this is a master's level role with a fairly high per diem pay rate, I could theoretically earn some decent money (not nearly enough to live on, but a quite nice supplemental income) by working a handful of scattered PRN shifts when I have the time. Plus, as others have said, I enjoy this kind of work anyway, and I find helping patients very rewarding... so a few scattered shifts (i.e., one Saturday per month, or something light like that) might actually give me a nice occasional escape from the daily grind of med school. But we'll see, I'm just going to play it by ear. And of course I'll be extra cautious not to over-extend myself at first, until I have a better idea of what to expect from the demands of med school.

I've maintained some websites throughout and also maintained about 60 website hosting clients. Why give up easy money?
[Edit]: I made about $200/day this past Summer pressure washing decks. I plan to do that again this Summer... hard work but good money.

I looked into this and they told me I had to be 18 months out from Step 3 to be considered to write for step 1 or step 2.... |

I used to flip stuff online and also helped sell stuff for other people and just took a cut. I won't say how much, but it was enough money that the IRS noticed and made me pay taxes on it.
I'd say that's the easiest way to go to cover expenses here and there. |

I tutored 1st and 2nd year Pod, Dental, Optometry and DO students. 40 bucks an hr. 2 hrs a day. 4 days a wk for almost 2 years. Do the math. It's also a good way to score...
