Default Applying to school and not sending secondary, will it affect me the next cycle?

Hey guys,

I applied to the Medical College of Georgia in in the last cycle because I was hoping to be able to qualify as a state resident (my residency eligibility would have been fulfilled after a few months), but it was denied by the university pre-secondary. Considering my chances were not very good at that point, I decided to focus my energies on the secondaries required at other schools, and never finished the long secondary at MCG.

This time around, I fully qualify as a georgia state resident and was wondering how badly the last cycle will affect my chances this time around.
Will the school take my absent secondary as a sign of initial disinterest? Should I send them a post-rejection letter about my interests in the school as I apply in this upcoming cycle?

Is there anyone with experience in the admissions office that may be able to comment?

I couldn't imagine it hurting you more than a standard rejection...

Or perhaps it will hurt less because you were never actually reviewed by the committee?

I imagine that because you were rejected for residency purposes rather than the content of your app, you will be viewed more favorably than a standard reapplicant.

My guess would be that the school has no record of you what so ever if you did not submit the secondary. I would be really surprised if med schools were so sensitive as to care about someone who sent primary but not secondary.

Is LizzyM or anyone with Adcom experience around?

This would be interesting to know. I have 2 or 3 schools from last cycle that I didn't finish for either.

I don't know what the people in the office know, or care about, but they do have records of the number of people who submit primaries and don't follow-up with secondaries but I doubt that they really care and compare the list to a list of people who submit a secondary in a subsequent cycle.

They knew at one of the schools I interviewed at this year that I submitted a primary the year before but didn't send back the secondary. I was asked why and I said I didn't think my stats and experience were extensive enough to meet the schools expectations of applicants so I elected not to continue with it. I got accepted so I don't think they really cared that I didn't send it in.
