You can volunteer to gain clinical hours - they
can be the same thing. The general SDN guideline is:
If you can
smell patients, it
is a clinical experience. - LizzyM
Usually, we discriminate between clinical experience and other volunteering. Both are important for a successful application to medical school. A quick forum search of "clinical experience" will yield a plethora of possible activities that are classified as clinical experience. Common examples include: CNA, EMT-B, MA, hospice volunteer, hospital volunteer, ED scribe and community or free clinic volunteer.
