Is this overkill? If so, what's a better way to approach it?

WAAAAYYYYY overload. Out of all the sections on Step I, anatomy tends to have the most obvious questions (and this is coming from someone who's weakest section going into Step I was anatomy). Honestly, 3/4 of all anatomy questions are upper and lower limb questions (i.e. guy X has been using crutches for three weeks and he can't extend his fingers, which nerve has been compressed?), and the rest are neuroanatomy (usually CT scans or an arrow pointing to a gyri) and abdominal vasculature questions.

Agree with Brachy. Not much anatomy at all. First Aid and UWorld will cover anything relevant.

These may be beneficial:
http://www.amazon.com/Lippincotts-Il...ef=pd_sim_b_17 http://www.amazon.com/Grays-Anatomy-...316192&sr=8-14 http://www.amazon.com/Underground-Cl...3316312&sr=1-1 Depending on what specialty your interested in, these could be helpful (e.g. surgery). As mentioned above, this likely isn't an effective method to increase your step 1 score. |

I love medical school. Vaccines are one of the great triumphs of medical science. They cost little, have few side effects, are incredibly safe, and they don't cause autism. If they just made free beer, they would be perfect. Green our vaccines? They only green you will see by getting rid of vaccines or decreasing their use is the grass growing on the graves of children needlessly killed by preventable diseases. -Mark Crislip, MD |

Funny that blind luck worked for you, because again, as others have pointed out, I can see the benefits of studying first aid. In my experience, First Aid is great for shoring up your Step 1 relevant anatomy. I agree with other posters that there is a lot of upper limb stuff.
What I wish I'd done was just sit down with USMLE World QBank and do all the anatomy questions (while you're at it, do ALL the questions, twice... you'll be golden.) |

UW + FA + Netters when you don't know what the hell they're talking about (every time for me
)also consider some kind of dedicated self-directed pelvic anatomy review as i realized with two weeks left that i didn't know any despite the above. but otherwise you should GTG
