Pharmacy 299 sessions deal with problem solving scenarios. You are placed into groups (not of your choice) and every other week you get a patient profile that includes his/her medical history, current symptoms and meds. Based from that, you will need to find if there are any contraindications, adherence issues etc. Then you will write a report on it. It does take a LOT of time but it is not hard.

Phar 202 is SUPER FUN! I think its my favourite. It is basically like a mini session at your pharmacy. You dispense, compound, and counsel patients. Believe me, if you have volunteered or worked at a pharmacy before, this will be cake for you (ie they give you like 30 MINUTES to compound, when in reality, you only need like 5 minutes...) BUT they are a HUGE stickier to details. Tiny marks get deducted here and there and there are a LOT of things to go over in the lab.

There are not a lot of lab techniques. It is mostly just getting the hang of using Kroll for the first time and how to write out verbal prescriptions and the Dos and Don'ts when counselling patients.

The only thing some ppl may have a tough time is memorizing all the medications (generics, brand names, dosages, coverages, etc) and math. Lots of math problems dealing with insurance (Ick!), deductibles, etc.

Refer to the previous few pages for the EC's some of the people did to get in this year. Aim for professionals for the letters of recommendation: employers, professors/teachers, co-ordinators and so forth. Most people will suffice as like as they know you fairly well.

In our technology email, it talks about us bringing a tablet/laptop to pharmacy classes. Based on previous years, is it really mandatory? Is it needed in the lab or will most of that work be done at home after we leave the lab?

You're the guinea pig year and will be required to bring your electronics to class (though I can imagine them changing up some things in January or even earlier perhaps...)
