Post Bipolar in medical school

I was recently diagnosed with bipolar 1 during my MS1 second semester and am currently on a leave of absence. I will have to repeat the entire semester next year ~ it sucks, but I guess that's the nature of the beast. I did very well in my first semester though but I am wondering if there are others making it with Bipolar (or other mental illnesses) in med school and how they are coping...

I don't have a mood disorder or psychiatric illness but good luck! I think you might end up having to report it to the licensing board when you are in residency, but it shouldn't create any problems if you are well controlled. I'm not really sure what the rules are exactly.
