I am thinking about chocolate from Godiva (~$10 to $20), but I also think cookies that I bake myself would be good, too (I am quite good at baking). Do you guys think the cookies in a nice small gift box or basket approporiate/good? Do you have any other ideas for the gifts? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I like the cookies. I made brownies- I feel that something you made is more personal and shows a better thanks than heading off to the store to buy something. You put effort in it

I'm going to make my professor a piece of jewelry, just because she knows that I do it and I know she'll like it.

I like the jewelry suggestion...any others? Besides food? My LOR prof is a nutrition prof and I definitely don't want to give him chocolate lol

Apple cinnamon muffins? Banana nut muffins? I make them with wheat and use flax seeds and brown sugar. Pretty healthy...compared to chocolate
I was going to ask you if you can crochet, but since your nutrition prof is a guy, he probably won't want a scarf

Wow that's awesome. I think of you send them baked goods that you made yourself...much more personal & powerful than store bought stuff. Although Godiva chocolates are cool too

I think you should include a card! In thanking my professors I gave them chocolates and a card thanking them for their time and their impact etc. etc. etc....

I wrote a thank you card, but made the gift personalized for each professor. I tried to remember something they liked or had an interest in mentioned from lecture lecture. For instance, one professor loved martial art movies and mma. So I got him two dvds, one with martial arts and the other about mma. Perhaps you could do the same. Happy shopping.

anything homemade is ethically clean
otherwise if their birthday is coming up, or if they just published something, etc. i'd use those occasions to thank them with maybe a bottle of wine i don't feel it's the most appropriate thing giving them bought gifts for the express purpose of thanking them for saying good things about you |

You could give him/her a coupon for a lifetime of free dental services.

Nothing, they did it because they wanted to. A simple thank you card should suffice. They wouldn't have written it if they didn't like you. You obviously did well enough in their classroom for them to write it on your behalf. The fact that you are moving on to bigger and better things is a big enough compliment to them as educators
