COMLEX Opinions on when to take comlex 3

I will be going to a very intense, inpatient heavy, tri in California. I was hoping to get opinions on when the best time to take this test is.

depends on you. Most people take it towards the middle or end of their intern year.

Thanks! I was thinking early because of step three possibly helping me get a categorical residency but I also heard the competition is rougher in the comlex early in the year ( aka the gunners). Any merit to this hearsay?

Not that I am aware of. Most people don't do as well early in just because they don't have the benefit of rotation experience to help them. The gunners,of course, just study their ever lovin brains out to pass it.
