I would be interested to know this as well. It would be a degree over a certificate, right?

She said they were discussing it. Just wanted to see if anyone else had heard. I'll send her a quick email later on and see what the verdict is.

So apparently they are going to a masters program this fall pending approval so it will most likely happen before this fall. There are three different masters degrees, there's details on the website now.

I just got in here last week. I applied b/c I'm local, but I'm not particularly interested in going DO. I know most of the students here wind up at DeBusk, but does anyone know the success rate for students who want to go to allopathic schools?

Then I must ask why go to a DO post bac program? If your in the post bac program chances are you have either a weak MCAT or weak undergrad GPA or maybe a combination of the two. The post bac program will help you gain acceptance to other programs but by the time the grades post to help your GPA you will be considered late by most if not all MD and DO schools. So for the PMSP program to benefit you for an MD acceptance you would need to complete the program and then apply to MD school= effectively wasting two years.

I didn't plan on applying to school until after my first post bacc year was finished, regardless of which program I end up going to b/c the other places I applied are two-year programs. So, I won't be wasting any more time at LMU than anywhere else. As for why I applied, the honest reason was to get my parents off of my case lol. I applied to several programs at allopathic schools that I haven't heard back from yet. Unfortunately, this is the only record enhancing postbacc that I've seen in the state, and it would be much cheaper to attend than the other places I applied to, so that's all my parents needed to hear before strongly encouraging me to apply here. I just asked about the success rate b/c I've already applied and want to examine every option fairly. Ms. Napier assured me I'd have no problems, but I was just wondering if anyone had been in similar circumstances.

22-24'ish

Every year the score goes up and up, they would prefer that you be close up the 24 mark since that is what DCOM prefers

I found my house on www.dcomdo.com

I don't like campus housing- had my own apartment in college and didn't want to move back into a dorm

Ball- super pricey for the money

I chose a house rented out by a now 3rd year soon to be 4th year. It's cheaper, bigger, and overall better to me as compared to a apartment or the inn

This isn't a up and down market, the sooner the better because places dry up quickly

Congrats!

Just curious.......why did you prefer LMU over LECOM? I've seen/heard of others doing this. What was the reason for you?

I haven't been accepted to LECOMs program but I did apply and was told I would have to wait till I finish my current organic class for a decision but I have decided to not even send in my grades and withdraw my app. I was accepted to both this program and the post bacc at VCOM and I am going to do the masters program at LMU for several reasons. The most important factor for me was the med school classes you get to take. It seems like a real advantage to go ahead and start taking med school classes that will transfer if you stay at DCOM the next year. In a way if you matriculated into DCOM doing this program is essentially like doing the first year of medical school in two years, or at least it seems that way to me. Also I really like the fact that it is now a masters program, but honestly I had made my decision before this was announced to me. I also interviewed at DCOM back in march and that was a huge selling point, all of the facilities are so impressive and everyone is super nice and helpful, I can definitely see myself there for med school. I was waitlisted for DCOM so ultimately I'm gonna be in harrogate either way. I would love to get off the waitlist but I am excited either way.

Hey! I've begun to do a preliminary search of housing. It seems like houses and roommates are the way to go. One bedroom apartments are waaayy expensive. Any girls out there thinking the same? It'd be nice to have a built-in study partner so we can motivate each other as well. If anyone is interested, send me a private message.

I chose LMU primarily due to the fact that you get to take med school classes and they roll over the next year if you are accepted. Also, I went and took a tour and the campus is beautiful and the facilities are very impressive; everything looks brand new! Everyone there also seems to be really nice and helpful.

Anyone know if its too late too apply? I'm worried all the seats will be filled by now.

Also has anyone with a sub 3 gpa gotten in? I'm at a 2.85 with a 31 mcat score so I was wondering if I had a shot.

Definitely contact the school and see if they'll take you. I can't remember for sure, but I feel like I remember a few people in our class this year saying they signed up over the summer.

Actually, the dean recently extended the application deadline to 06/15/2013. There is plenty of time so go ahead and apply if you are still interested.

I just got my acceptance packet in the mail from the LMU PMSP program. It states that those who successfully complete the program will be granted an interview. How does the med school view PMSP students? It seems that this is not a guaranteed seat program like LECOM.

Can anyone shed light on this who went through it? Is there a minimum MCAT score that LMU-DCOM requires from PMSP students?

Sweet, Going through the application now. Has anyone had any luck getting them to accept a writing intensive course for the english requirement?

Its not a "guaranteed" seat, but you almost have to put forth next-to-no effort to not be accepted. We only had a few people from our group to not be accepted. They do except you to have at least a 22-23 on the MCAT (they'll advise you specifically on this). Put in the work in your classes and you have nothing to worry about. They won't turn down anyone who performs well in the medical classes and has an acceptable MCAT score.
