Default Which is correct: OMS or OMFS?

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
This may be getting too technical, but isn't the correct abbreviation OMS since maxillofacial is one word? Do current residents think people that use OMFS are idiots? Or are both used equally in your field? Just wondering for future refrence...

It's the same thing. I learned OMS at the program affiliated with my dental school, but the ER and other departments call us OMFS where I am doing my residency for some reason.

ED calls us OMFS, Omax, or MaxSurg....OMS is ok as well. I usually say this is doctor so and so from Oral surg or Maxillofacial surg when calling someone or returning a page; it depends on how tired I am.

TxOMS,

Depends on where you are at, ED or ER. Try not to be so petty.

Try finding a sense of humor. I don't care what you call it, I was making a joke.
