Default Test just around the corner & BURNED OUT!

SDN Members don't see this ad.
Hi,

I was wondering if any of you who have taken the DAT could give me some advice. I have been studying for the DAT for the past 2.5 months. I feel that I know the information but I still need to touch up in some areas before I take the actual test. The problem is that I am so BURNED OUT! Just the site of my study notes makes me sick to my stomach. When I try to look at my notes nothing is being absorbed at all.

My test is in thirteen days. I still have two full Topscores tests left. I planned to study all week and then take a Topscore test Sunday and see where I stand. However, I am finding that I just can't stand the thought of reviewing anything.

I have taken DAT Achiever in bits and pieces and realize that I am not up to par, but I want to post my scores so I can get some advice.

DAT Achiever
Organic 17 and 18
QR 17/16/16
Reading 19/19 and a 21 on TopScore
Biology 15/15 eek!!
PAT 15 eek!!

When I took Kaplan's Organic Chem, Biology and Gen Chem tests today, I scored a 19 in Biology, 23 in Organic and 24 in General Chem. I have taken these tests already, but it was a long time ago. The questions actually looked brand new to me.

Any advice would be appreciated. I feel I need to step back, take a break for a day or two and then take a TopScore exam after quickly reviewing all of my notes maybe on Friday. What do you all think? Do you think my scores are too low for a break right now. I really need to do well on this exam. Thanks for the help.

Don't worry so much. Take a break for a day or two and then go back at it with a structured plan of how to study. Work on each section of the test a day. After a few days take a full length practice test for real. Then go back and study the stuff you need to work on. Then take the last practice test a day or two before the actual DAT.

relax, i think a main part of test-takign is the confidence level, also my scores were around what you posted and i ended up getting TS-22 AA-22. just make sure you understand the material, a lot of the questions i seemed to have were kind of common-sense type questions (if that makes any sense),. anyway, good luck!

I agree with others - you need to relax. take some days off. and if you are not ready for the test, you can always delay it. trust me, you do not want to retake it. it would be much wiser for you to take it when you are ready, then to mess up the first time and try harder for the 2nd time to bring up your average. good luck.

Thanks for the advice oldboy, elz and 786mine. I took the day off yesterday and may even take the day off today too. I feel better already and realize that I did need a break badly. I am starting to feel refreshed and energized to do this thing once and for all. Thanks again for the advice. You all made me feel a lot better.
