Does DO Ranking exist?

I am hunting for a ranking of the DO schools. I have searched the local bookstores and numerous web sites, but no luck. Two other people have asked for the same info (on 1-30 & 1-13)on this site, but there isn't an answer to those. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

As far as I know, there are none. You can go by several things to help you make a decision:
1) stats for incoming students, such as MCAT and GPA; check this message board. It's somewhere here
- while not foolproof, a school that requires higher stats tends to be better
2) reputation of school
- talk to people
- check out this message board; it's very helpful
3) go for one of the more established schools if you want to play it safe

What SPECIFICALLY are you looking to have ranked? Are you just looking for something to tell you that SCHOOL A is "better" than SCHOOL B? For you, what does "better" mean? Higher GPAs and MCATs? More full time faculty? Affiliations with specific hospitals? Availability of a D.O./Ph.D. program? Board exam scores? Residency placement? Minority acceptance? Percent of students pursuing primary care?

Criteria determines where the school lands in the ranking system and I'd recommend you rely on your own criteria than someone elses. Combine the information from the different schools, medical students, and whatever you can find in those "Getting into Medical School" books and you can easily see which schools are "better" (for you, anyways).

I really appreciate the tips on how to create my own ranking of DO school according to criteria that are important to me. I guess I just wanted to see what the "pros" had to say about the different schools.

Find a school that allows a great deal of flexibility in the clinical years. This will greatly increase your odds of landing a residency that you desire. Ultimately, you will find that where you do a residency is more important than the school you attended.
