The Student Movement of the Medicine/Public Health Initiative, the new student section of the jointly sponsored AMA-APHA national initiative, invites student leaders at medical schools and public health programs across the nation to learn more about establishing local student chapters at their health science centers, medical schools, or universities. Members of national initiative include the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Agency for Healthcare Policy and Research, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The new student group has recently agreed to pursue a partnership of shared governance with the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and Public Health Student Caucus (PHSC). This is an opportunity for highly motivated students to help demonstrate a collaborative model of professional education, research, and career development.

The national initiative, and the student sponsored initiative of the same name, seeks wide ranging reforms in the education of physicians and public health professionals.
