Post osteopathic internship + allopathic anesthesia residency

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
My friend is a 4th year osteopathic medical student. She is wondering if it is possible to do a traditional osteopathic internship and then transer as a CA-1 to an allopathic anesthesiology program. In other words, do allopathic anesthesia residency programs recognize the osteopathic internship?
Thanks for any help.

Yes, all ACGME anesthesia programs recognize the AOA-internship as the clinical base year. However, make sure the programs take in residents starting their CA-1 year (because categorical programs [which start from the base year] will not allow you to start at the CA-1 level because they have/want a four year continuum in training).
