Default Residency in South CA?

I am wondering if anyone here will be doing residency in South CA? Also for those who already did, how competitive is it?

Hi RX for life,

What type of residency are you pursuing? Do USN students have a good chance of getting into a residency?

Thanks

My roommate is applying for residency in Loma Linda. She said it's pretty competitive.

Yes, it's competitive. In fact, almost everything is competitive, even getting a parking spot at school, shopping,etc...

I was in Anaheim for ASHP Midyear last month and the really popular program on Monday of Residency Showcase was UC San Diego. First off, they have 12 PGY-1 openings but I imagine that the fact that they are in San Diego sells itself. The reps at the UC San Diego booth actually ran out of brochures/application kits.

The downer is that they only pay like $35K a year and that probably won't go too far in San Diego.
