Default 27 on the ACT...prediction for MCAT?

Hi,

I know there is little reliability between performance on MCAT and performance on ACT, but I thought I'd just give it a try by asking. I got a 27 on the ACT....would anyone else who got a score in that range tell me how they did on the MCAT?

I studied from review books for the ACT, but my study strategy back then was not the most efficient or well-planned. I just want some idea what kind of score I can expect for the MCAT without taking the practice test since I am still missing Physics II (so my diagnostic score would not be representative). Thanks.

There probably is only a weak positive correlation between the two. If anyone tells you a "correct" number it will just be luck that they got it right.

The dean of Admissions at South Alabama COM was convinced there was a correlation - but i'd definitely say it has a lot more to do with high ACTers being MORE likely to study and do well on the test. In no way did he acknowledge that ACT=MCAT as a handout.

Yet, with those stats, study and you should do just fine

Dear Father,
You have placed me in this world as a doctor with a plan for my life. I have seen the possibilities. I now hold [my life] up to you. Take it and begin the change in me. Give me the insight and determination to follow through and become the Christian doctor you have created me to be - by your power, with your wisdom, and for your glory. Amen

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but I got a 27 on the ACT as well (90th percentile), and got a dismal 20N on the MCAT!!! Maybe I just had a BAD day, that's what I'm hoping for anyway. Point is, I wouldn't take anything for granted. I would study as hard as you possibly can for the MCAT as we all know how important a good score is! Good luck to you and hopefully I can pull a better score the next time.

I made a 29 on my ACT and never studied a lick for it. I studied a ton for my first MCAT and made a 23. So obviously, I saw no correlation.
