The Kaplan Q Book is pretty good. It gives extensive explanations of all answer choices, both the correct ones as well as the incorrect ones and why. Though it may be a tad too large to take with you on rounds.....

I've read favorable replies about the NMS question book. The second edition is the most current I've found (2007). I haven't done any questions yet so I can't vouch for it, though. I'll start slugging it out with the question book once I review a bit.

I second the Kaplan book. I actually tore the book apart and and stapled the individual tests together. That way you can take them anywhere with you.

ive used that book and loved IT!!! i used it for step 2 and 3 and i wish they had one for the internal medicine boards!!.
its a heavy book in the sense of the information it gives you in the explanations, and the questions vary from very easy( and excuse to teach you something) to very complex 3 level Q`s like in the exam.

after using this book i felt very comfortable with the exam Q`s, although i was sure i flunked it i dindnt.

for CCS uw interactive cases are more than enough.
use the 2010 version. you can find it in amazon for like 30 bucks or so.

good luck and hit me if you need any more help.
if you got this far, you will pass it for sure, relax!

Default COMLEX - SCores and Study Materials

I just passed step 3 - and here are my scores and Study materials:

Level 1
Scores: 466, 80
Study Material: First Aid 1, COMSAE - score 540.

Level 2CE
Scores: 409, 76
Study Material: First Aid 2, Combank

Level 3
Scores: 372, 76
Study Material: Crush 3, Combank

I passed all 3 on my first try, the last 2 parts just barely. Combank for part 3 was the same as for part 2. The COMSAE was worthless because it gave me a false sense of security - I did almost 100 points worse on the real thing. First Aid 2 is crap. I liked Crush for step 3, but it's not enough to do well, just to pass.
