University: University of California, ____________
Major: Biology; Minor: Psychology according to PTCAS...... Overall GPA: 3.08 Pre-Req GPA: 2.98 GRE: 1020 (V. 550, Q. 470, AW. 5.0) Extra-Curric./ Volunteer: various including a volunteer student group that helped organize and run a free health clinic for the underserved (interviewers were really interested in this), student association for bio majors, pre-health club, shadowed and worked with different physical therapists, studied abroad for a summer Experience: 300+ outpatient at two clinics Acceptances: New York Medical College, University of Miami, Western University of Health Sciences Rejections: Drexel University, Thomas Jefferson University Interviews: New York Medical College, University of Miami, Temple University (decided not to go), Western University of Health Sciences * I applied to several other schools, but didn't follow through with them after receiving interview offers from my top choices. ![]() I hope this goes to show that stats aren't everything! I was sooo worried about applying with my stats considering they are bare minimum for a lot of programs, but I did anyway. The schools that rejected me were the only ones that didn't interview me first so I believe there is something to be said about the weight of interviewing. That's my two cents, anyway. Good luck everyone!!! Last edited by pt hopeful; 03-22-2009 at 12:15 PM. |

Thanks. It was a bit of a gamble but I only wanted to attend a state school and of the three that are closest to me it was my best choice. For CSU Fresno I would have had to wait another year because in order to apply you have to finish all the prereq classes by the fall you apply and I still needed a couple classes. For San Francisco State since they require less prerequisite classes, I would have had a lower prereq GPA because I took some of the classes early on in college when I did not know what I was going to end up doing. I was able to raise my prereq GPA for Sacramento since I did really well on the extra classes that I needed.
