It's going to be based heavily/entirely on the methodology of the experiment itself, along with (perhaps in some cases) the analyses used. It's also going to be very context-dependent (e.g., whether the authors are talking only about the data and/or the sample from their study, are attempting to generalize the results to others ala the Discussion section, etc.).
