I am interested in people's thoughts regarding the strengths, weaknesses, reputations of following ophthalmology programs.
YALE - I understand that their chairman (Bruce Shields) has moved on to another administrative position. Any sense on how this will affect the department? UNC - MARYLAND - Definitely overshadowed by Wilmer. Have heard mixed feedback about the program. Anybody have a sense of what direction they're headed in? WAKE FOREST - Small, only 2 residents/year, but what is the overall quality of the training? MINNESOTA - Seems like a very community oriented program. MED UNIV SOUTH CAROLINA - ST. LOUIS UNIV - |

I'm also trying to get a better feel for Maryland. Given the short time spent in the dept - it was hard to get an idea of how stable the program was. All new faculty in past 5-6 years. Don't know what I think of Baltimore either.
Any other input on this program would be great. |
