Thank you TurtleLover!!

By the way I just checked ohio's page and it says Decision as the status and it says : A decision has been made on your application. To ensure privacy, you will receive written notification of that decision by mail. It means that a formal rejection letter is on its way..

Those of you who got interviews/waitlist last year and flat out rejected this year-- I highly suggest calling the school for a file review, and/or flat out asking them what's going on:

A friend of mine applied to Davis 2 years ago and interviewed, then rejected. Last year applied again, no interview, called the office and it basically turned out that she had put her last year of full-time vet experience in the "Work" section instead of "Vet" section on VMCAS (d'oh!), so they hadn't seen it!!!!! Literally they told her they had not even looked at that section, so they thought she had not gained any clinical experience--which was what they told her she needed the 1st time around...As soon as that was cleared up they called her in for an "emergency" interview and she is now class of 2012!!

I know that's an unusual case, but if you went through the process last year and they gave you specific things to work on, you worked on them, and got rejected flat-out I think it's definitely worth some aggressive follow up!

Good luck!!

I think Missouri has only sent out OOS rejections. Also does anyone know what the timeline is like for UF or UT?

UF is sending out interview invitations February 20. I assume rejection letters are going out at the same time.

Penny, I'm so sorry (and I know the feeling from last year). Make sure that you request a file review--I found the Admissions Counselor, Laura Fuller, very pleasant & helpful.

Did you apply anywhere else? Either way, best wishes--and never, ever give up! Hang in there....

UT sends interview invites around the 1st of March. Conducts interviews over spring break March 16-20.....acceptances come around April 1st.

That's the kicker. I had a file review with Laura Fuller this past May in person. I agree she was very pleasant, but following her advice obviously didn't do me any good.

Best of luck to you this time around Guppy!

Last year there was a round of rejections sent out earlier than that. I think that it was mostly OOS people in that round.

Grand Cayman (the island) is amaaaaaazzzzzzzzzinggggg... I've been there twice on "vacation" while I was a nanny, went with the family. The beaches are amazing, the weather is to die for, and the locals are so friendly. I'd so go there if I could take my husband with me . It's the only non US territory I've considered living in.

That's pretty funny that you went there as a "nanny." I've been there twice too while playing "nanny" for my sister's children as they go there every year. The only bad thing about Grand Cayman is that everything is extremely expensive there. In addition to the price of everything being much more expensive, the CI is much stronger than the dollar. I bought a box or raisin bran and a half gallon of milk and it was the equivalent of $15 US dollars last winter. I drove by St. Matthews so many times and never knew they had a vet program.

Oh yea, not to mention the gas prices... last time I went was in 2004 or 2005, before our gas prices shot up. I think it was like $2 per gallon in the states, and over $5 there. It's definitely expensive... And I didn't realize the CI was stronger than US money, that makes it so much worse. I never really went off and did anything on my own while we were there, other than going to the beach, so I didn't realize the cost... definitely something to consider. I'm surprised the CI carries so much value, since their economy is tourism based... isn't it? And mostly US tourism... so many of our cruise ships stop there... I would think their dollar would rise and fall with ours.

The CI and the US dollar have a fixed exchange rate of $1 CI = $.80 US. Grand Cayman is a pretty well off because of their financial service industry, which probably explains why their money is stronger than ours. If I had the money I would want to live there too.

Hey guys, sorry to hear about your bad news. I know the feeling- I got 6 straight rejections last year before getting my acceptance from Ross. Tufts was the worst, because it was the last rejection I received AND it was my first choice. Ouch. And now I'm applying to transfer, so I'm sure I'll be receiving my own share of rejections in a few months, too!

Anyway, keep your heads up. I'm routing for ya!

You got the exchange rate backwards. Currently 1 USD = .82 Cayman Island Dollars

um its right..... 1 Cayman Island Dollar (KYD) = .82 USD or

1 Cayman Islands Dollar (KYD) = 1.20000 US Dollar (USD)

hence that's why it's so expensive to live there vs. in the US -- makes sense

Those 2 conversions you posted are opposite of each other. The first one is wrong, the second one is right.

1 USD = .82 KYD.
or
1.20 USD = 1 KYD.

If 1 KYD = .82 USD then that would mean the US dollar is stronger and we would be coming out ahead with the exchange rate.

It took me a minute for my brain to catch up there, but he's right. It just looks wrong... at first... for some reason. You have 1 KYD equal to two different amts though, in your last message.

Ugh, math. Lol.

Pay no mind. jaydog12 did not follow the previous format. He/she is still in the dark about Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Tennessee.

sorry little lisa, what I meant from "Still in the Dark" is that I am still waiting to hear back from the school about even getting an interview, if I do.

jaydog, this isn't really the place for acceptances. Stick it in the right thread so more people know to congratulate you

I already did place my acceptances in the acceptance thread. I know I probably should have only did my rejections, but I just thought to myself maybe to place it for a change of pace, but I guess that was not exactly the most logical choice and I am afraid I may have offended people for showing where I got accepted.....sorry

So does this mean that Penn sent out rejections to those applicants they thought were less competitive?

Jay, I wasn't offended. I just want to avoid any more heart attack situations like with littlelisa

I know this thread is repetitive, but it's structured that way so that those of us anxiously awaiting a possible acceptance can quickly see if where we still have a chance!

I didn't mean to scare anyone, so once again, sorry to anyone that was scared of my "In the Dark" category. I understand that everyone is so anxious about hearing from all vet schools each person applied to and at this point, only a few schools still have to notify applicants like TN. It was not my intention to scare or hurt anyone's feelings when I posted my acceptances (which I did post on the acceptance thread earlier, but foolishly posted on here as well). I guess I let my excitement get the better of me. I was just happy that I got into (at least ) one school in the US.

Jay, I hate to bring up a (possibly) sore subject, but was Penn's rejection an email or regular mail letter? (congrats on the acceptances)

For everyone else....this thread makes my heart race almost as much as the interview thread!

.......so i might still have a chance!
