Need advice! Med. school or MGH first?

Hey Guys,

I need advice quick! I should be studying for the MCATs right now,

I have developed a very strong desire for global health. My whole life I have wanted to be a doctor so I have always been preparing for med. school but now I have developed a problem. .

My dream is to go to a medical school with a well developed masters in global health program (MGH). The problem is that the only schools that I can find that offer this are IV schools such as Harvard, Duke, NYU, ect. Most of the other general schools only offer MD/MPH joint degrees. So 2 questions:

1. What would be my chances of being able to get into one of these top schools for their MD/MGH program?

My background is: cGPA: 3.91
sGPA: 3.91
have not yet taken MCATS
Junior at Penn State
Over a year of research
Volunteer abroad and in hopitals
Plenty of shadowing and other extra- curricular

2. Would it be wiser for me to just apply to their MGH programs and would that help me get into their medical schools?

Until you have an MCAT score, it is impossible to tell you your chances. A masters degree will not help you get into an MD program, but having an MD would improve the odds of your getting into those masters programs.
