Default Tox fellowship - competitive?

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
Not sure if this is a dead, beaten horse... but how competitive is it to get a spot for a Tox fellowship? What should I be doing in residency to be competitive?

Do I need to become chief? Or do I just make sure I'm simply doing a good job w/ residency and getting face-time with our Tox fellowship director?

Thanks!

J

It depends on the program and the year. There aren't a lot of programs, so 2 or 3 applicants for a non-competative program suddenly makes it competitive. Some programs have a wait list, while others don't. The bigger names, in more desirable cities, are more competitive.

Most of the programs I am with which I am familiar, would rather not have a fellow than take someone so-so. So, you'd like to be good at what you do and motivated to be a Toxicologist.
