3.75 URM/ESL (wish that would explain the VR, but apparently I can write...) CA resident 2 years clinical research 2 years bench research (2 posters) NIMH fellowship 10+ regional/national scholarships 100+ volunteer hours ~100 hours shadowing fluent in Spanish 2 years leadership, etc etc Question 1: Do I retake the MCAT? I would like to go to a CA school. Question 2: Which schools should I aim for in general?

CA schools will be very, very tough with a 31. Even some with 35+ have a tough time getting accepted.
Tip #1: buy an MSAR from the AAMC. Tip #2: Take your (GPA x 10) + MCAT + 1 and compare with the average values for schools of interest in the MSAR. A school +/- 1 of your score is an even match. Higher are reach, lower are "safeties". Further research schools for fit. Search for threads here too. |
