I always get plenty of sleep, but I make it a priority over other things most times. Getting only three hours of sleep is probably due to personal choice or the activities that person is participating in. I do drink cofee, but only 'cause I love it.

I drink coffee every single day. I have a 3 shot latte (or mocha) in the morning and a few times a week I have a coffee in the early evening.

I make sure to get 7-8 hours a night and I can tell it helps. Too many people in my class say they get 6 or less and they fall alseep in class, while I'm ready to go day in and day out. I also drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day, black, no sugar or cream. mmmmm
Cheers! |

Eh, I drank coffee if I needed it but that was once and a while. Sure there were nights that I didn't get a lot of sleep, but for the most part 6-8 sounds about right. Whatever pharmacy student needs 3 as an average needs to re-prioritize their schedule. Unnecessary and unhealthy

Wake up around 6AM-9AM on weekdays. Go to sleep at 1AM-4AM on weekdays. Only drink coffee during the week and usually at least 48 ounces of coffee a day.

used to drink about 44oz coffee per day , now i just take 200-300mg of caffeine tablets. generally try to get 8-9 hours of sleep per night, going to bed around 3-4am waking up around noon. Class days I only usually manage about 5 hours but take naps in the afternoons. I estimate i've saved probably close to $800/year by switching from coffee to caffeine pills. It's also much more convenient.

The results of this poll are public? Dang. I thought this was an anonymous poll. Not that it matters.
I've gotten as little as 2 hours of sleep, and as much as 9 hours. |

I get as much sleep as possible. Eight hours per night during the week and more on weekends. I don't like coffee. I drink Diet Coke but limit my intake now that I'm pregnant.

I went through pharmacy school on 4-6 hours of sleep, but as I got older, I can't do it anymore. I can still function the day after I got only 2-3 hours of sleep, but I pay for it the day AFTER. And the following few days. I think slowly like a zombie, and I start getting wrinkles around my eyes if I don't sleep enough... not a good thing.
I am also one of the 2% of population who are naturally caffeine resistant, so I stopped buying coffee back in my freshman year of college when I realized all I was doing was wasting money, as I still fell asleep in class with the cup still warm in my hands. Now I sleep 6-8 hours a night... and I have always used weekends to catch up on sleep.

I want to have my cake and eat it too. So basically I average 4 hours on the sleep on the weekdays, that's unavoidable unless I quit my job and only do rotations.
Weekends, I'm fighting myself on whether I should catch up on sleep or if I should go hang out all night. |

Brooklyn is pretty damn awesome. Best pizza in NYC is in Brooklyn. In 2012, the New Jersey Nets will be moving over to Brooklyn. Coney Island is in Brooklyn. Brooklyn has more of the parks, beaches, academy of music, etc. Just stay the hell out of East New York. Only reason to visit the Bronx is to see the New York Yankees play. Queens is probably the most diverse county in the world. Little Egypt, Little Arabia, Little India, Chinatown, Italian/Greek, West Indian, you can find a lot of stuff there. However, sports wise, there's nothing to see other than the US Open because the Mets are gonna suck this year. |

your 3hr/night friend sounds horribly inefficient & actually kind of dumb, if i needed 21 hours out of a day to finish things, i'd probably go find something else to do in life that isn't so taxing.
it's like people who brag that they put in 12 hour days....stupid, you should try to figure out how to do your stuff in 8 hours like everyone else in the office. good thing this guy was salaried. his work sucked too. |

Had a $150 grinder.. bought $6 coffee makers from walmart each month instead of cleaning them. Yeah, i havent noticed any gastric issues with caffeine pills, and they work very well. It's also easier to keep track of mg intake per day so as not to inadvertently end up in withdrawal or tired, plus $3 for 18,000mg is very cost effective. One tip would be to make sure you get the nice rectangular tablets, they're easier to break with your fingers as opposed to using a pill cutter. (200mg is the only available dosage form typically, and that's a lot of caffeine depending on your tolerance) |

During the week, I wake up 7:30 for classes, try to get to sleep around 11:30-1am. Usually end up taking a nap when I get out of class, maybe 4pm-6pm. I try to get into a more reasonable schedule, but it seems that by the time I'm home from class, I'm so tired that I need a nap. Then after I wake up, make some dinner, watch the news and some tv, when I finally get to studying, it's after 9pm already. Factor in time for browsing the internet, checking email, facebook, sdn, it's very easy to hit 1am without really getting a whole lot accomplished. Vicious cycle, since I'm once again tired in the morning.

Spring break started, and I'm happy to get 7 hours of sleep .

I slept 14 hours yesterday. I get around 4-5 hours of sleepduring school. Spring break has been glorious. I now drink one 2 shot latte + 1-2 red bulls + 1-2 coke zeros a day, on average. Of course I mix it up some days but I need the caffeine. It's sad.

~6 hours during school. ~5 during residency. Now I get 6-7, would be more if wasn't for the baby.
![]() It's interesting to watch caffeine tolerance develop, 8-12 oz/day in p1, 16-32 oz of the stronger Starbucks brew since p2. Now it's down to 16-20 of the free god-knows-what-brand at work. |

I usually get in my 8 hours of sleep, unless there's an exam the next day. Then it can go down to anywhere between 3 and 6 hours. I drink a TON of coffee, but that was a habit I had long before pharmacy school.
