Awesome!! I haven't booked a room yet. I should probably get on that soon lol. I think I'm going to book one at the Holiday Inn Express, too, since they said it was directly across from the Pizza Hut.

Default rotation sites

Does anyone know about how the rotation sites are set up? are they solely in the Appalachian area or are they spread out in some way? I'm from new york and i like dcom and possibly want to attend if accepted but i want the ability to go back to ny for some of my 3rd and 4th year. I kno there are required rotations within TN but besides that does anyone know if I can rotate in NY, NJ, CT area?

We get phone calls from Robin. She's really nice. They confirm what day you want to interview, and they send you an email afterward with all the information about the interview day.

Well good luck on the 14th, Dr Yiot! I'm going to make a reservation at the holiday inn, so maybe I'll see you! And yes, I totally agree. Troy owns that show! I like Trapper Joe a lot, but his son gets on my nerves lol.

If you look at post 41 on here, someone posted information about the rotations.

Hey I just got an email saying my file is complete and will be reviewed. It says they'll call me if I get selected for an interview. About how long did it take other people to get this call once they got this email? I'm anxious.

Also, Yiot and Gaga may be interested, I got to meet Tommy and Trapper Joe at a baseball game down here. It was pretty sweet.

Here is a link to LMU's page that goes into detail about our numbers; very happy with my choice; would say more but gotta go study for our first major exam. http://lmu1.lmunet.edu/cgi-bin/MySQL...xt&newsid=1079

I was complete on July 28th and received my interview invite on August 10th. I don't think they started sending out invites until last week anyway because I'm signed up for the first interview date, September 13th. My guess is that you should get one soon!

And that is so awesome!! I'm really jealous because I am mildly obsessed with that show lol. Trapper Joe is awesome! I'm from eastern Kentucky, and we like to hunt and fish. Gator huntin', however, is a completely different story. I have a lot of respect for those guys!

I'm just a first year so rotations seems like a million miles away right now, but I did look into this a little bit since I am from CT. Basically here at DCOM they have three types of rotations: core, selective, and elective. The core rotations (6 months in MSIII and I think 3 or 4 months in MSIV) need to be done locally. Selective and elective, however, can be done elsewhere. As I understand it there are a few rules that dictate where exactly we can go, but for the most part we can go anywhere in the country for those rotations. There is a long list of approved places you can go, but you can add a new site anywhere you want with a little bit of paperwork, coordination, and school approval. I have heard that this is a fairly easy process, but then again I don't have any personal experience with it yet. Hopefully an upperclassman will pop in here and offer a little more detail. If not, its an excellent question to ask during the interview process!

Hope that helps!

For all of you interviewing on the 13th, I will see you at pizza night on the 12th.
Expect a frazzled student, we have a test on the 13th.

Yiot, that is too bad you won't be interviewing on the 13th. I'd like to meet you too.

Hey guys!

First, congrats on the interviews!!

I have a question... I'm filling out the secondary right now... it asks for an LMU ID, but it doesn't show I have one in my email. I think they forgot to add it? It says "LMU ID: " , so it looks like someone forgot to fill in the blank, lol.

It also says on the secondary that they will add the LMU ID if it's not filled in. So what's the point of asking us to do it? Should I call them about this?

I received a voice msg from Robin today about an interview invite, yay!! I'm really really hoping that I can get an interview on the 13th (I'm gonna call her back on Monday to find out if they have more spots).

Did LMU release the match data for the inaugural class?

Finished my secondary for here...very excited. I'm so glad I finally had a day where I could do it. I'm going to priority mail it to them on Monday and then e-mail Janette and let her know I sent it in (she asked me to do this when I spoke with her at the Vandy school fair), so fingers crossed I get a call for interview soon

There are a lot of informative youtube videos about this school! Check them out, I'll be interviewing here, but not sure when yet.

I just received an email this morning that my primary has been reviewed and I'm invited to complete a secondary. Problem is...I received this email before a few weeks ago and I already completed and mailed the secondary and they already cashed the check a few days ago so I know they received it. The email says if you already submitted your secondary then ignore this message. Should I just ignore this message or should I call the school and make sure they are not waiting on anything else? I hate to bother them if it is not necessary since I know they are very busy and this just might be a fluke getting this email again. Does anyone know how long it took after they cashed your check that they sent a complete email?

Thanks!

The e-mail said just ignore the message if you have already gotten it...which implies that they knew people who had already gotten it were going to get it again. If they cashed your check, and you sent that in along with your application, then I'm sure they have everything (unless you are still waiting on LOR'S or something). If everything is in you should have received a complete e-mail I believe. If you haven't gotten one, check your spam folder because mine was sitting in there for a while...for some reason a lot of mailboxes think LMU's e-mails are spam. If you still haven't gotten one, and it has been more than 2 weeks since they should have gotten your stuff, you could call...Everyone in admissions is super nice, and I never felt like I was bothering them even with little questions. I'm sure they would be more than happy to check on your application for you. They know how anxiety ridden the whole process is. Good luck!

Can anyone tell me how scheduling third and fourth year rotations work here at DCOM? Is it just a lottery or can you actually choose?

As in if I wanted to do most of my rotations in the Knoxville core area, would that be possible?

Just curious.

Congratulations everyone! I just signed up for a few more pizza nights today-- I'll be there for those who are interviewing on the 13th and 21st. I'm doing more later on as well. See you all there!

Hey all I'm really excited about this interview but won't be able to attend pizza night. My schedule is crazy around that time and I won't be at the hotel until around 10 the night before

Same thing happened to me. I got to my hotel room around 11pm. It's no big deal though, there are students that eat lunch with you that can answer any questions you have.

Default getting to LMU

I was wondering how people who are flying in will get to LMU. Will you guys take public transportation, are there shuttle service from hotels, or are you guys renting cars? I'll most likely fly into mcgee-tyson airport but I dont know what to do after that to get to the hotels and then LMU....
Any suggestions from those who have already done this or soon going to do?

Thanks

Any suggestions from those who have already done this or soon going to do?

Thanks
TYS is too far away for hotel shuttles. It is cheaper to rent a car than to take a taxi. I suppose you can stay in a hotel near the airport but then you would have to wake up super early to get to the interview on time and you would still need to find a ride.
I have always had great luck with Enterprise at TYS.

I'm renting a car and driving there. It was only like 70something from Enterprise for 25 hours and I'm 21 so I got the extra fees. A taxi would probably cost you a lot more.

I noticed the DCOM secondary says, "A letter of reference from a physician," and not, "a letter of reference from an osteopathic physician."

Is the fact that it should be an osteopathic physician inferred or are they just requiring a letter from any physician now? Anyone know for sure?

I just sent in one from an allopathic physician and I was completed.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Interesting, I didn't realize DCOM doesn't require a DO letter. Maybe this is a change from past years.
