If it helps, when I had not received my secondary, I had called as well. They said that it takes them ~4 weeks after your AMCAS verification to receive Drexel secondary.

really? already??
This is very confusing to me. Does this mean that they have already filled all of their interview spots?

Keep in mind Drexel processes something like 13k applications for ~1000 interviews. It can take a while for some of these things.

It took me about a month to receive a secondary from Drexel after getting verified.

I was verified June 1st... received secondary a few weeks after that I think?

So... it seems they are bogged down with apps.

Makes sense... they don't want to release more secondaries and then get overwhelmed. So they release batches at a time.

Hahahah, welcome to the OC???

I guess you can get one before me. But I still want one!!! If not for the acceptance... for the opportunity to have a philly cheesesteak...in PHILLY!

All it takes is one guys... one interview... one acceptance. And it's gold.

The Philly Cheesesteak is godly. Whenever I went into Philly for flight transfer, I'd get the Philly Cheesesteak in the F terminal, and it's soooo good!!!

This. You gotta go to RT market or Jim's on South. Pats and Genos are fine for 'tourist' cheese steaks, but once you get comfortable you need to move on because there is better stuff out there. Pats and Genos are also good for the crowds. You can always find old people smoking doobies and hot naked sorority girls buying cheesesteaks as a pledge activity.

Also, try this formula for the 'Philly Phastball' or 'Philly Taco':

1. Get good and drunk at your favorite South Philly bar.
2. Take taxi to Jim's on South. Buy Cheesesteak.
3. Rush down the block to Lorenzo's pizza while giggling, buy giant slice of pizza.
4. Wrap cheesesteak in pizza.
5. Enjoy.

If anyone has any questions about Philly let me know. I have been in/out of town for a decade, and I have been around every hospital/medical school there except for Jefferson. I used to use Drexel to do tissue recoveries. Let me know if you come into town Code Blu, I would party with you.

Hahaha! It's also known as the South Street Special or Challenge. I highly recommend Jim's, but also up by Drexel's med school campus you'll find Dalessandro's and Chubby's, both also have excellent cheesesteaks. Dalessandro's usually gets the win in cheesesteak-offs.

How have I not heard of this? I usually skip right to Lorenzo's (LOVE their pizza and one slice is more than filling for me), but I'm surprised that some of my guy friends haven't mixed the two when we're down on South Street.

Anyone have any further information on the "interview season has concluded" message that seems to have carried over from last cycle? I emailed the office but no response.

I was verified the first week of July and still have not received a secondary. At this point, I'm all tapped out of funds and I've received 4 very good interviews...it's really unfortunate that they haven't found a way to get secondaries out faster.

sigh. so did mine. (changed to "hold")

so what does this mean? they will offer interviews to all the applicants that roll in in the upcoming months, and once they finish THAT, they will look back at our applications? (psh, what are the chances...)

Since I'm soooo used to holds, I'll explain what this means (I did receive a lot of it the past 2 cycles lol)

Schools have decided that your application is not strong enough for an interview now, so they are putting you aside. They will review the incoming applications, which they will have boatloads of, and continue to invite more applicants for interview. In the end, if they need to interview more applicants, they will come back to the "hold" applicants and review them again for more invites.

I received a lot of holds the past few years, and in the end, all of them ended up rejecting me in February and March anyways. I know this is harsh, but if you're on hold, just forget about that school and start focusing on others since the likelihood is pretty slim; remember, these schools do get tons of competent applicants anyways

How sad that 35/3.8 with loads of EC and research experiences gets put aside on "hold" this fast in the cycle... (with 2 rejections and nothing else in hand). bah.

Thanks kaution, congrats on Drexel too again (never can get enough congratulations )

Yea, this process seriously sucks. So many competent applicants and only a handful get most of the pie. I had to endure 2 years of receiving around 40 "We regret to inform you that...blah blah blah...Unfortunately, we had a lot of applicants... blah blah blah...We hope you good luck"

I was verified 7/25 and put off calling/emailing so far... thinking that they'll be sending out a batch sometime this week. Usually amcas doesn't mess up sending primary apps to schools right? lol

Well, I haven't been put on hold yet (C 7/27), but still no decision... frustrating. It's crazy that some of you with very impressive applications are on hold.

Anyone think they may realize that the ones with impressive applications might not go there if interviewed/accepted so they are holding those applications until later in the cycle to see if, when invited for an interview, they actually come? The school is good but out of the four Philly MD's I would have to rank it last.

I haven't received my secondary yet so this isn't wishful thinking on my part.

I've heard of this before. I've seen impressive candidates interviewing and getting accepted to top 20 schools, but never hear a thing (or get placed on hold) from a "lower tier" school. But it makes candidates like me a bit nervous (ones without like a 38+/3.9+ with research publications and impressive clinical/leadership experiences)... not quite "special" enough to make it to the top schools but perhaps good enough to get placed on "hold" this early on from lower rank schools

Saw the recent posts so I logged in and checked my status. I am now a part of the "on-hold" club.

I thought Drexel likes non-trads. At least that's what it says in the MSAR. Oh well.

Nope. I feel like 35/3.8 is not THAT exceptional to get an auto-hold/reject because I'm "too qualified" but on the same token, I didn't feel that my application was THAT inadequate to get such a fast rejection on the merit of "not being competitive enough" you know? I'm a bit baffled. I wonder if I'll get ripped off like the middle class. Not poor enough to receive free/financial benefits, but not rich enough to afford things without feeling a strain.

Thanks for all of the updates. I have so much on my plate already, so I don't mind Drexel taking their time. I just wanted to make sure that they didn't pre screen me or something odd like that.

Similar to my situation - mediocre undergrad (barely above 3.0), 4.0 post-bac, 34 MCAT
2 on-holds
1 rejection
2 schools sitting on my secondary app's for a month+ when people applying several weeks after me get immediate interviews. this year isn't great fun so far.
