SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
I submitted my secondary on 9/16 and only just became complete on 11/2. Based on this and the turnaround rate of others in this thread, I feel like I won't hear anything from them for another two months. I am imagining an admissions office with one lonley person sifting through thousands upon thousands of applications.

Yes. When were your LORs sent to AMCAS?

I think as a rule of thumb you should call any school you are not marked complete at within a week of submitting your secondary, if you know everything else on your side is in good order (LORs uploaded to AMCAS, your advisor/school sending any necessary material, etc). Address the situation before it becomes a problem, and before you seem disinterested in the school.

It took me 1.5 months to get marked as complete. I don't think its atypical to wait this long. One of the schools I'm applying to said to expect a 7-9 week delay between submission of the 2ndary and completion notification.

A minor correction, but I would wait two weeks. Many schools specifically say to give them 14 days.

I'm still not complete here either. I sent in my LOR (the last thing I had to send in to make me complete) in mid-October...

Just via the status page, no e-mail.

Thanks,
Honors/High Pass/Pass/Fail. Some classes, especially electives, such as Medical Spanish are Pass/Fail.

Congrats, I got my II this morning as well. Got to pick 1/4/12, super convenient as Einstein interview is on 1/3/12, hadn't even had the chance to send an in-the-area e-mail.

waitlisted

does anyone know if NYMC is more likely to accept from the waitlist if you write them letters of interest, etc? I'd really appreciate the feedback. thanks!

The wait list, as hopefully they told you on your interview day, is unranked. They use a broad range of factors to decide who they take off the wait list. As they explained it to us last year: they attempt to replace an accepted student they lost with someone of a similar "profile" (life experiences, ECs, non-trad vs trad, etc) since they want a diverse class. Hopefully you got to see how diverse we are. So yes, writing letters will help you. If you have updates, let the school know. Write a letter of interest soon if you'd like. If after the New Year, you don't have any other acceptances, or maybe you do but NYMC is your top choice, then let that be known to them and write a letter of intent.

As a rule of thumb: school's that don't rank their wait lists like to hear from applicants that are motivated and excited about the school. This will help you. School which rank their wait lists, it's not going to do much once the ranking is set up, however they decide to rank their lists.

NYMC's wait list is usually one of the more active ones, so don't feel down. Good luck!

Default California Regional Interview

Hello!
Congrats to all of those accepted. I just got an interview offer and I was given the choice to interview in NY or in California.
If I choose to interview in California, due to financial reasons, would it hinder in any way my likelihood of acceptance?

Thanks!

I also got a regional interview. I am inclined to interview at California for financial reasons. I hope it doesn't affect our likelihood of acceptance.

Default Accepted!

Looks like I received the email around 12:30pm. OOS, 30, 3.92/3.86

Congrats to the others who got accepted also!

Interviewed 9/15 and they said they wouldn't send decisions until Dec so this was a pleasant early surprise

My application was complete 8/28 and still nothing i really thought NYMC would give me a chance. You guys think my files been reviewed and skipped over already? Seems like they send out decisions every Monday, and last week people who were complete late August got interviews, while this week its been those early September...that's why I'm assuming they skipped me..sucks

I am interviewing in LA on 1/4. I simply have no money, so the decision for me was easy. I think we'll be okay

this might be a silly question, but i am wondering how people interviewing in dec/jan are planning to dress? their website advises boots for the winter but i don't feel that boots are professional looking, and they would pair oddly with a suit, no?

i'm from CA so i've been spoiled with mild weather. i was on the east coast last week and my biggest complaint was the cold weather. i know it'll only get worse! advice on how to keep warm while looking interview-appropriate would be much appreciated!

it might be important to note that i'm female.
