It just seems unlikely (although I guess possible) that no one on this thread got a call. I'm not giving up hope yet

The email was worded a little strangely, but they were pretty specific about when they would call "(one minute past midnight, Saturday night.)" although it appears that the person writing the email (and possibly updating the twitter) is not Dean Capers, so a mixup could be possible. It doesn't seem like the school would make a mistake like this and not correct it somehow (like on a twitter update).

NOOOO i was up til 4am yesterday and had my phone right by me (no i wasnt up just for this i just dont have a normal schedule) and i figured multiple tweets and the email couldn't be wrong so i must have just not been on the list so i didnt have my phone on me this afternoon/evening and i missed the call but i got the call YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY.

that was my internal dialogue after checking this thread then DIVING to the floor to find my phone.

I got the call earlier this afternoon! I can't overstate how incredibly thankful and humbled I am to join the entering of class of 2012, especially if it will be at THE Ohio State University! It's never a bad thing to get a call from Dr. Capers!

To everyone that didn't receive a call today, going through last year's thread shows that there were more than a handful of applicants that never received the call yet received accepted statuses. In other words, just hang tight until Tuesday morning. You're not out of the running yet!

I really hope so. I really liked OSU when I visited and Dr. Capers is seriously so cool. Idk what role the awesomeness of the Dean of Admissions should play when picking a med school, but so far OSU is definitely number one in that category.

I hear you loud and clear, my friend! He is definitely someone that I would like on my side throughout med school! Dr. Capers is really supportive, and he definitely recognizes how much the students contribute to the school!

Just hang tight, check your status on Tuesday, and let us know how it goes! If on the off-chance that you are deferred, which I will pray doesn't happen, let them know that you are very, very interested! At my interview, they said that they definitely do take deferred students, so don't give up then! Again, I hope that you don't even have to go down that route!

Congrats everyone who got in this round of interviews!!! Hope you love Ohio State as much as I do and you decide to come here next fall!

Hmm "Deferred - Decision Pending". Better than a waitlist since they continue to review your application (does OSU have a formal waitlist?). I saw some people got in after getting this status for a month or two last year, but since they overaccepted last year there's less spots. Oh well, grats to those who got acceptances, OSU definitely impressed me.

If we interviewed October 17th, does that mean we find out on the coming Monday night?

Could someone explain how exactly the Independent study Pathway works? It seems like the Integrated pathway is the typical med school curriculum, while the independent study pathway just gives students online access to all the material and expects them to just teach themselves...?

Actually, ISP is quite a bit different than the IP curriculum. First of all, it's separated more traditionally - you learn physio first, the pathophys the 2nd year. In IP, its systems-based, so physio and patho are taught together.

ISP has shorter modules, and thus more tests (but they are shorter, over less material than an IP test). You also get to pick the date of your test - if you are ready early, take it early; if you have been busy, push it back a week.

There are more differences, but with the new curriculum starting next year there will not be a distinct choice between ISP and IP anymore. Everyone will be participating in the same curriculum, just with increased options for independent studying (more ways to learn the material to suit your learning style best).

Is Dr. Capers calling accepted people tomorrow night??

so when accepted you go online to confirm, then they send you a letter and you return that with 25$ to confirm.

the online thing i did, but the letter/check is only if you choose them to matriculate at right? because i thought originally this was to hold my spot, but the letter itself has a due date of may 15th.... anyone know if this is supposed to be a now thing or what?

When do they start moving people from deferred pool? Any guess?

I interviewed on that day too, and I'm pretty sure he said we would get a call in 2 weeks. But I've heard from other people OSU has a 1 week decision time frame, so I don't know...

I interviewed on the 12th and haven't heard anything yet. So I am guessing two weeks?
