I wrote down the list of dates at the interview, and the next one is 10/24. After that it's basically every other week until February (but it gets a little weird in there, I think there's once with a 3 week spread).

Just went to the interview today. Very awesome. Enjoyed the college, the staff and the people I interviewed with. Congrats on your acceptance. UofA Phoenix is def. a top choice for me.

I applied to this school but I don't know why. Is there anything special or different about there program? I initially applied because of the location but now I am not so sure. Any current students?

I was thoroughly unimpressed. Dean Flynn was wearing a Michigan tie and discussing his Yale experience. As an applicant who applied (and in the case of Mich was accepted) to both of those schools, how am I suppose to be excited about UA when he isnt even?! Their new clinical anatomy lab is going to be very nice and Dr. Fisher is a fantastic professor (currently in her class). I hated the MMI, personally and found the admissions process to be juvenile (you play with marshmellows as an activity). |

That's good. Interviews are a process in which you are supposed to find out more about the school and your fit to it. Seems like UA-Phx is not a good fit for you

I am probably a little butt hurt bc I really wanted to stay in state, so I was hoping to get more out of the interview day. I love PHX and thoroughly enjoy the area, so I am sure all matriculants will enjoy their time their. Sekong by the Night and Carolinas are must eats!

Besides student interaction (pre-event mixer, breakfast and lunch), plus time with the dean, dean of admissions, interview with 10 people and meeting the entire admissions office, what more did you want? Someone sounds grumpy. Last edited by WildDevil; 10-18-2011 at 02:54 PM. Reason: additional comment |

I didn't feel like the school portrayed an atmosphere that i would like to be a part of. That's the whole point of interviewing. Someone asked about opinions on the school and I gave them mine. |

For those who went to the student mixer (ppappui maybe?), what was the dress code? Were people wearing blue jeans, or is this more of a slacks occasion? I know the email says casual, but I want to play it safe.
Thanks! |

Some were casual, some played it safe. No one was extremely dressed up or anything. I wore jeans and a decent polo, and I felt fine.

So I received my complete email back in mid august and still have not heard anything from PHX. It seems like most people on here get some correspondence after about 30 days... Im going on a little over 2 months. Do you guys think I should call or email to make sure every things okay or should I just wait it out? Im IS btw.

personally i don't like to email, i usually call. They are a really friendly staff. In my opinion, if you were truly worried, I would call. Calling shouldn't hurt. Just shows interest and concern in my opinion.

How much does a cab from the airport to campus cost?
The night before my interview I'm staying at the Travelodge, which is on Van Buren a few blocks east of campus and it appears the closest rail stop is quite the distance from my hotel. Anyone have any other recommendations for airport to downtown transportation? |

So one more round of acceptances going out on Monday right? (8-12 expected?)
PHX was a really cool school, I love their outlook on the future. They really seem to be moving forward. I like PHX and the dean...However, I do think it is odd how often the dean talked about Michigan...And if he did where a U of Mich. tie to an interview day I would find that a little inappropriate....But I dont think it's a big enough deal to sway my decision in either way. The admissions staff was extremely nice, and even if you dont like the MMI format it was apparent they wanted everyone to be successful in their interviews and wanted to help familiarize us however they could. You might not have liked the afternoon event (for some this was in the morning) but it showed a little bit of the character that UA PHX has. They have a little spunk or creative uniquness. I have been to plenty of DRY Interview days so I would never fault a school for trying to entertain us and destress us! Just my $00.02. |

The MMI is fun (no i'm not one of those odd people that enjoys stressful situations - the MMI is literally a lot of fun!) - it reduces the pressure that one feels when interviewing. You don't feel like you have to sell yourself to the "judges". Rather, you just need to have fun with a bunch of people who are interested in hearing what you have to say. So to all those interviewing, don't worry - just take a chill pill and have fun with it. The post-interview activity is most impressive of all - I thought - very fun, constructive activity that transports you back in time - that's all I will say about this very special activity.
...a bit of GENERAL ADVICE for ANY interviews...if you are a bit stressed about interviewing and feel like getting rid of butterflies/stress before/during/after an interview, wait until you are outside the school to do so before you end up cringing and making any faces that are labeled "priceless" by your fellow interviewees...not saying that I did or did not do this myself

Hi guys,
I'm a 4th year at UACOMP. Feel free to PM me with questions. I'm sure I am less busy than the other students. 4th year rules. UACOMP is the best. I don't regret my decision to go here. The main reasons I picked it were the following: 1) Everybody seemed really happy. And it turns out everybody is really happy. 2) It is a newer school so the administration really listens to your input. Also if you want a program that we don't have...then start it. 3) It is non-competitive. It is P/F during the first two years. And you can take tests on weekends. I can't stress how nice these things are. Lots of people crammed and took Friday tests. Some of us don't like to cram and so took an extra day or 2 to study. It also really helped if you were sick. 4) Everybody is really nice. When you show up to the first day of school, all of the faculty know your name. You have never seen them before and they call you by your name. 5) You have the opportunity to work at many hospitals. This is really nice to see the differences between a county hospital, a catholic hospital, a children's hospital, and a regular hospital. They are all within about 5 miles of each other so it's not really a commute. If you do stuff at Mayo, you will have to drive. But Mayo isn't somewhere we often rotate (although I would recommend doing a rotation or 2 there). |
