When they tell you that they would like to schedule an interview with you, do they give you enough time to buy a decent airline ticket? (like around 300 bucks from Memphis?)

they don't usually give you that much time. I think three weeks notice probably. You kinda gotta be willing to eat some dough for the plane ticket. Dunno though. BMB would know.

I'm pretty sure you could arrange to stay with a student for your interview though. There's lots of peeps that would volunteer in our class.

I think mine was somewhere in the range of 2-3 weeks.....all I can remember is having to postpone my final in order to make it to the interview

When you factor in things like pharm school TUITION, the costs of interviewing seem pretty minor. I think that I'm paying something like $13/hour for EVERY hour that I'm in class (times 6 hours, times 7 days/week, times 45 weeks, times 3 years). I think that my flight from Detroit to Phoenix was about $310, and my hotel was maybe $85/night tops. Interviews are a positive thing, don't worry too much about springing for the flight (unless you have to fly to like 10 schools). It will all be made back in a few years (after we all pay back our student loans).

The serious answer is: "I don't know just yet when the interviews will be scheduled this year."

The funny answer is: "Any time, babee!"

Does it have to be an apartment or can it be a CONDOMinium?

Yeah, South...try something like "you can sleep on my aerobed". That's really subtle.

No! Really, it's an aerobed, it's rolled up in a bag in my bedroom closet! I'm not kidding, you've gotta believe me! All you've gotta do is plug the pump into the electrical outlet, and you'll inflate my aerobed!

awww...that's enough...I'll go study.

I called UOP today, and they said they haven't received my supp application yet. AND I SENT IT EXPRESS MAIL 2 WEEKS AGO! They said they probably misplaced it; call back tomorrow. What the heck!

I don't know about USC yet, but I'm planning to call both of them tomorrow and make SURE that they've got everything. Oddly enough, the check I made out to UOP was already funded in my checking acct. So that DOES mean they received it, but maybe they decided to take my money, and throw my app somewhere in the corner? I'm confused......

And tearing my hair out....

Mai

P.S. Aren't aerobeds quite uncomfortable?

Mai,

Call the admish office and make sure they've got it. They're actually really cool about that for the most part.

So apparently, UOP has mismatched my application with someone else's file, and my application just started processing as of today.

And then I called USC and everything is okay except that they haven't received my $65 application fee. They had a paper where you fill out your credit card number and all that and I turned that in, but now they won't accept it. So I have to send in a check, which means it'll take a while longer until my application starts getting processed.

So long for sending it in early and express mailing it.....

I can't help it; it's a gloomy day....

hmtran,

I really wouldn't worry too much about it cuz it sounds like you are ahead of most people already. It seems like if USC has your app now, even if it waits one more week, you still have a decent shot at interviewing early. From what people have told me who work in my store, the bulk of people do not do their applications until later in the fall, especially for USC since the deadline is later than the UC's. So I wouldn't sweat it too much. Though your post made me realize I need to call my schools tomorrow and make sure they have my stuff together. Good luck and let's keep each other posted on the USC interviews when we get them

So I had an annoying interaction with USC today. I called to check that they received my application and first they couldn't find it. Then they finally did and told me that like hmtran it could not be processed because I too filled out the credit card form in the application. I pointed out that if they cannot accept a credit card with the paper copy, maybe they should omit that form from the paper application. So I have to send a check. Then they told me it would not be processed until the 2 copies of my transcripts arrived. That sucks because I have transcripts from 6 schools so it is a NIGHTMARE to get them in. Why do we need to send transcripts anyway? Isn't that the point of PharmCAS? Anyway, sorry to rant here but it just pissed me off because I went out of my way to get it done and express mailed there in hopes of getting an early interview. Oh well, I'll hope for the best. The good news is that my day got better after that cuz the Giants won Game 1 of the playoffs and I was there today and am going again tomorrow. So life is pretty good right now

Yeah, SC is actually hella bureaucratic in their apps (tons and tons of stuff to submit and the most pre-reqs.) I actually like their pre-req requ'ments in a way though. They don't waste a lot of time re-teaching basic science undergrad classes (no micro, no biochem.) when you start school.

Lemme know if you have a ton of probs. Maybe, I can inquire on your behalfs. Dunno.

I'm afraid that administration isn't beating down the door to join my fan club. I'm worse than just about anyone in terms of taking care of administrative crap (i still haven't gotten all of my trasncripts to them, they haven't received my intern license bc i submitted it late, and i haven't completed my immunization. The director jim granderson is starting to get PO'd at me i think.) That said....I was gonna say some thing to offset that, but I couldnt think of anything.
