I think you had to be a BU (or some other program that I wasn't) student to get that internship for Phase II.

My program's faculty approved my petition to rank an APPIC member site this year. Apparently, although my training has not changed/updated since last year, they no longer believe that my training needs would best be met by an APA accredited internship. It is infuriating for me. If they are letting me do it this year, why didn't they let me do it last year? So wrong.

How did you find that information re: Danielsen? It now makes sense that they referred to it as a "dedicated" internship- but there was never any more specific information...

http://www.bu.edu/danielsen/training/predoc/

I applied there in Phase I but didn't get an interview or anything (it was not a good fit for me other than for its location), so I rechecked the website after seeing "Restricted" in the Phase II listing (or wherever, I can't remember) and I saw:

Quote:
Please Note: Interested applicants should apply to the internship/fellow program, NOT the dedicated internship program. The dedicated internship program is restricted to specific BU programs only.
Sorry. Good luck with other sites, though.

Default Dress code for skype?

Hi,

I apologize if this has already been covered. I did not complete any of my Phase I interviews via Skype. Do you recommend still wearing a suit, or would a pressed/collared shirt and dress slacks be adequate?

Thanks for your input - or for any re-directs to where this info has been discussed already!

I think a pressed shirt would probably be fine. I did wear a suit jacket for mine, but with jeans so I could be comfortable. Probably no one is going to see your bottom half, so I suppose you could wear pajama bottoms if you wanted

I wore what I would wear in a face to face interview for my top so interview blouse and suit with earrings if you're a girl and I wore my pajamas for bottoms

Back in the stone age of video conferencing (early '00s), I would do shirt/tie + shorts/birkenstocks combo. The resolution was really bad (think non-HD web cam & lag) and limited to shoulders/head. It was pretty funny to walk around our office pre/post...but our programmers wore board shorts, dyed their hair, and most had facial piercings and tattoos....so my look was actually pretty conservative.

I wore a ribbed turtleneck and blazer type jacket with pajama bottoms. It depends how you set up the camera but if you do it the way I did, there's no chance your pants will be in view. I also lit a scented candle and had a glass of water nearby, just to help me get comfortable. My worst fear was that the dog would either bark incessantly or somehow burst into the room and topple everything over, happy to have found me again.

Lol. Yeah things that you really have no control over. I was glad I practiced with a professor bec I had some connection hiccups so I got that straightened out. I cleared my background but unfortunately i only have a studio so my background was kitchen lol! Thank god my neighbor wasn't fighting when my interview was going on with my wallpaper thin apartment

Did you apply to the Pediatric position at Tulane? The adult position lost funding, but they didn't announce until the Wednesday before apps were due I think.

Default Still waiting...

Hi everyone, Happy Friday. I just wanted to get a consensus does anyone else still have a majority of their sites to hear back from? While I know that in phase 2 they don't have to send you rejections most the sites I'm waiting on haven't been mentioned in here as offering interviews yet. Does it seem strange that there is basically a week left and so few sites have started invites/interviews? I mean I've been offered 3 interviews so I'm lucky in that regard but come on sites I at least want to know they've offered interviews so I can cross them off my list. I hate the not knowing! Thanks for listening to my gripe! Good Luck everyone!!! For crazies like me please keep posting sites that have offered interviews

Unhappy interviews

Just one interview for me... still waiting to hear back from 9 sites who have no been mentioned yet on here. Why in the world is this taking so long??? I mean, we have to rank in 10 days... this waiting period is so frustrating. I am hoping that no news does not equal bad news in this case.

About half the sites I applied to have offered interviews, and my tally rests at 0 thus far. Not feeling too good about this one, looks like I'm going to be an APPIC two-timer...

Still waiting on:
New Mexico State
Institute for Multicultural Education and Counseling
Oklahoma Consortium
Arizona Psych Training Consortium
Gateway Foundation - Aurora Outpatient
Park Place Behavioral Health
George Fox University

Hang in there, everyone!

I just got a phone call from the TD at Jefferson Center for Mental Health for a Skype Interview. Unfortunately, they only offered me one time, and it conflicted with another Skype interview I have that day, so I couldn't take it. I have a feeling I was last on their list. Oh well!

I also received an email from George Fox University on Monday for a Skype/phone interview. Not sure why though... seems like a pretty poor fit for that one. I guess I have stopped trying to understand this process....

I can't find the updated list on sites that have offered interviews, but just in case anyone is wondering,
I have received interviews at:

USP Hazelton (in-person, ugh)
Community Services Institute
Riverview Psychiatric Center
Larned State Hospital
Travis County Juvenile Probation Dept
GFBHC
Ohio Psych Consortium

(I consider myself lucky)

Good luck on hearing some positive news before the weekend. This is my second time around and I really feel everyone else's anguish with this whole waiting process. Crossing my fingers for everyone

Hi all! I've been keeping up with the progress of Phase II and just wanted to let you all know I'm sending good thoughts. I went through this last year (didn't match, no interviews in P2) and it sucks, no way around it.

As an FYI, I don't think I heard back at all from most of the sites in P2 last year. It sucks that they don't notify you and let you out of the waiting. Ugh.

As my DCT says, this is just a "bump in the road" to becoming a psychologist. I didn't feel that way this time last year but I can view it a *little more* that way now. After I wallowed in miserableness for quite a while last spring, I was able to have a productive year and match this time around so hang in there!

Still haven't heard anything about these sties, any word?

Tulane Medical Center
Spring Grove
Southeast Human Service Center
Fulton State

I've had one interview so far in Phase II. Trying to be hopeful, but realistic. Honestly trying to think about what my game plan is going to be for the next year of my life and how exactly I'm going to spend my time. After this epic disappointment, about ready to say screw it and go live on a beach somewhere or join a hippie commune (FYI, I just saw Wanderlust the other night, hence why the commune thing is looking good right now. )

I went to undergrad at University of California Santa Cruz, hippie capital of the higher education system (with the only other exception perhaps being Humboldt State). The hippie life WAS pretty good, seeming to have been the high point of my life up until now lol (high=no pun intended).

Wondering how late sites waited last year or whether to assume interview offers are unlikely.
