So there is pharmacy in the next county that receives prescriptions over the computer from docs all over the country. I should mention that none of the medications are controls but I think these are internet prescriptions. All of the prescriptions are shipped out and the pharmacy makes 5 dollars per prescription; every bit of it is cash.

Has anybody else heard of anything like this?

I haven't heard of this exactly, but maybe they are a small mail order pharmacy that contracts with a larger PBM or something. Sounds interesting, $5 per script is not that good though , but I guess if they did a large enough volume and had low overhead it may be profitable.

From my understanding the third party ships the drugs and its primarily 2-3 drugs. None of the drugs are schedules. When you first hear about it 5 dollars doesn't sound like much but some days these guys do 1000 of them. I'm not sure how shady it is but if its legal Id like to get in on it myself. Of course the guy that does it won't let me know anything lol.

Are you saying that this guy just processes the rx's? If the 3rd party is shipping the meds, then this guy doesn't really need to keep an inventory then $5/script is very good, if they are doing 1000/day. One could probably do that with only two people doing data entry and they wouldn't even have to be techs if they aren't handling meds.

Now if he is having to maintain and inventory and dispense and ship 1000/day and all he gets is $5/rx then that does not sound like something I would want to get into. You would almost have to have 2 pharmacists and 5-6 techs to do 1000 plus a shipping receiving department. Way too much overhead for 5k per day. 2.5K would go to staff alone.

Now if the 3rd party reimbursements were decent you could probably run at 18-20% margins over drug cost + 5000 in dispensing fees and now we are talking, sign me up.
