The Department of Psychiatry at the Creighton University School of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital (SJHMC) in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking inpatient and consultation-liaison psychiatrists as we expand our service in preparation for our inaugural class of medical students in July 2012.

SJHMC is the home of the Barrow Neurological Institute and has been consistently recognized by US News and World Report as one of America’s best hospitals and one of the world’s leading centers for the neurosciences. This vibrant medical center houses over 700 beds, nearly 1500 medical staff, and 180 residents spanning 12 specialties. Clinical consultation opportunities include emergency department, women’s mental health, movement disorders, epilepsy, ICU, transplantation, and bariatric surgery. Our 37-bed inpatient psychiatric unit is located at the newly opened Valley Hospital, approximately 3 miles from the main SJHMC campus.

Responsibilities will include supervision of medical students and residents. Academic and research opportunities abound across the full spectrum of psychiatry including collaborative research with a host of subspecialists. The position would include an academic appointment with the Creighton University School of Medicine commensurate with experience.

Qualified candidate will possess and M.D. or D.O. degree, be board eligible or certified in Psychosomatic Medicine, and be eligible for an Arizona license and credentialing at SJHMC.
